These will not be around for long.Aprilia, the Italian motorcycle and scooter maker, started out making small-displacement machines and, though it has branched out since then, continues to produce its share of well-regarded scooters. Both are carbureted. The SportCity 250 runs on a 244cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with fuel injection. All three models have an SOHC valve configuration, as well as the continuously variable transmission that is standard for scooters. Telescopic forks provide the front suspension a twin-sided swing arm and an adjustable spring preload shock make up the rear suspension in all models. The SportCity 50 and 125 have a single disc brake in front and a drum brake in back. Small steps to a bright future

Tue, 16 Nov 2010

A small but very significant addition to the BSB paddock in 2010 has been the Racing Steps Foundation GP125 team.  RSF is an organisation founded by wealthy businessman Graham Sharp, to help talented youngsters with no funding make their way up the motorsport ladder. As a boy, Sharpe wanted to become a racing driver but soon realised without a serious amount of cash, this was virtually impossible. He never forgot this dilemma so is now in the business of making dreams come true for young UK racers in Karting, GP2 and Motorcycle Racing.

Piaggio Multimedia Platform iPhone Connectivity Announced for Piaggio X10 Maxi-Scooter

Thu, 05 Jul 2012

Piaggio announced a new iPhone connectivity system set to debut on its new X10 maxi-scooter. The Piaggio Multimedia Platform (PMP) will be available as a kit for the 125cc, 350cc and 500cc versions of the Piaggio X10, and eventually may be introduced to other models in the Piaggio Group (which would include the brands Aprilia, Moto Guzzi and Vespa.) Designed by Re:Lab, the PMP system  turns an iPhone into an onboard computer and secondary display. The kit mounts the iPhone over the Piaggio insignia on the center of the X10′s handlebar which, from the rider’s perspective, puts it just below the scooter’s standard instruments.
