Aprilia RS-1 Evolution description

Up for sale is a 2004 Rieju RS-1 Evolution project (check out info on the bike model here: http://www.motorcyclenews.com/bike-reviews/rieju/rs1/1997/). This tiny, insanely fast bike has to be seen to be believed. It is NOT minibike - it is a small-displacement sport bike, made in Spain. Register this as a motorcycle and own a tiny track bike, or register it as a moped and leave all those fools with 1970s French models in the dust.

The Good: The RS1 is a Spanish 50cc Aprilia RS-50 clone, with all the fixings of a full-on sport bike. It features a liquid-cooled, 2-stroke, oil-injected engine (An Italian Minarelli AM6 engine - the same one used on the Aprilia RS-50), with a 6 speed transmission. Wheels have high-performance Pirelli tires. Bike has 45 miles on it, and has mostly sat in my garage. New battery, new throttle, new headlight, new taillight, new gauges-hours meter/tach and speedometer. I built this up into a "naked-style" bike, so took the fairings and extra stuff off, but it is included.

I will be including a bill of sale and previous registration paperwork with the bike, but do not have the original title. The bike is a Spanish import and was never registered in the US or in Europe. Currently has a valid registration in Vermont, and thus could be registered in Rhode Island or other states with the legal DMV paperwork I'll include in the sale. You might be able to register it as a moped depending on what state you do it in, as it's a small-displacement vehicle, and thus not need any sort of paperwork at all.

The bad: I haven't started this in a while. Ran and drove a year ago - I just don't have time or money to "dial it in". Battery is currently dead. I bought it to build up as a naked-style bike, and thus the fairings have been taken off, but I still have all of these accessories and they are included with the bike - This includes the original gauges, two-stroke oil tank, fairings, and headlight. This is additional to the high-performance parts already on the bike - I put a standard bucket-type headlight with H4 bulb on the bike, and so on.

Feel free to submit offers or ask any questions you'd like, I will answer quickly. Need to get rid of this quickly as I'm moving to another state.

Can pick up in either Pawtucket, Rhode Island, or Somerville, Massachusetts.

2010 Aprilia RSV4R Engine Failure Delays Press Launch [video]

Wed, 28 Oct 2009

Aprilia cut short its launch event for the new RSV4R at Italy’s Mugello circuit as not one, not two, not three, not even four but FIVE pre-production models suffered engine failure. Motorcycle.com contributor Tor Sagen was at Mugello in Tuscany and was scheduled to do a few laps on the world-class circuit on the RSV4R, a lower-spec version of the Aprilia RSV4 Factory. Tor reports the engine problems were being attributed to the conrods from the first batch of 50 pre-production engines.
