BMW Other description

2007 BMW K1200S, The BMW K 1200 S, is BMW s response to fast cycles, with its Hayabusa-beating claimed power of 167bhp and such gadgetry as electronic suspension. The K 1200 S is in its natural territory in the highways. The seating position is the perfect stretch to the high-ish bars, the pegs are the right place to create a real all-day riding position with a deeply padded seat. You can ride 300 miles in a day and it never once gets uncomfortable. The new design screen has a slight dip of the shoulders that s needed to get the full benefit of its protection from windblast, while the clocks clearly show all the necessities, including a gear indicator and fuel gauge. Never one to shy away from innovation, the BMW K1200S uses another new system for front suspension. A single shock does the work which linkages transfer the forces. The theory is it separates braking and cornering forces which is does. It s brilliant everywhere except a racetrack and the motorcycle is still acceptable there. Off the highway and onto twisty roads, you switch the electronic suspension to sports mode and you feel how the bike grabs the road for you. This whole electronic suspension is just fantastic but it works really well, the whole bike is transformed. Considering it s quite long, the BMW actually handles really well. It doesn t have the top-heavy feeling and slight flop into corners of a Hayabusa and feels solid and planted at angles up to knee-down. The pegs are never in danger of touching down, despite being set at a comfortable riding position, and it is a fun machine on which to explore the roads. . The servo assisted ABS brakes are powerful, if lacking in feel, and rapidly bring the bike to a halt. Few motorcycles shrug off winter better than a BMW motorcycle. That said a BMW K1200S will still need regular attention to keep it looking shiny. Shaft drive means less maintenance and expense.

Back in 1993 Piaggio had developed the Hexagon, which became the world’s first so called GT scooter. Through the X7 to the all new X10, Piaggio has developed its new flagship scooter, and in Paris I got to sample the 350cc version of the X10. Piaggio will offer the X10 as a 125, 350 and 500cc version.

WSBK 2012: Assen Results

Mon, 23 Apr 2012

The Netherlands hosted a dramatic weekend of World Superbike racing that featured a red-flagged wet race, several riders crashing while leading, a first-time race winner, a photo finish between two teammates and the reigning World Champion finishing out of the points because of a poor choice of tires. The 2011 WSBK Champion Carlos Checa arrived at Assen with the lead in the championship and a three-race winning streak, but opting to run wet tires in Race Two cost him the lead and may have contributed to a crash that severely injured Liberty Racing‘s Brett McCormick. 2012 BMW C600 Sport and C650GT Scooter Preview

Tue, 08 Nov 2011

While Japanese OEMs persist in their cautiousness, BMW continues its assault on new markets, most recently with its incredible S1000RR literbike. Over the past four years, the German company has nearly doubled its 500cc-plus market share from about 7% to 13%, and the 2011 model year is on pace to set a sales record of more than 103,000 motorcycles. For 2012, BMW enters the lucrative scooter segment with a pair of twin-cylinder maxi-scoots claimed to combine the agility and comfort of a scooter with the riding qualities of a motorcycle.
