BMW R-Series description

We are selling an all original, very hard to find 1969 BMW R60/5. The motorcycle is in great running and driving shape. The paint is sharp and bright and seems to be all original except for the rear fender.  The tank has one small shallow dent on the very top right corner (see picture). There is some normal wear and tear for the age. The engine starts and runs great, both kick and electric start fuction properly. All lights and gauges work great. The tires are new and the bike is ready for the road. Comes with a clean Utah title. We take Paypal.

On Jun-14-16 at 08:53:23 PDT, seller added the following information:

We have recieved numerous emails about the year and vin number. From our research we have done production started in 1969 but not released until 1970. We believe that this motorcycle may be a pre-production or early release. The vin number is an elusive "phantom" number that BMW is know for back then. We do have a current title stating that it is a 1969 BMW R60/5 with matching vin numbers.

BMW and Husqvarna to Unveil Concept Models at Frankfurt Auto Show

Fri, 02 Sep 2011

BMW will unveil an electric scooter concept model and an entry level Husqvarna streetbike concept at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. The BMW concept, shown in the teaser sketch above, will likely be a version of the E-Scooter electric maxiscooter concept announced in July. BMW claimed the E-Scooter’s liquid-cooled electric motor offers performance similar to a 600cc combustion engine, while the battery casing itself will form the body of the frame.

OEMs Plug into Electric Bikes

Sat, 01 Nov 2008

KTM introduced its prototype electric motorcycle earlier this week, and electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles almost immediately responded by opening sales on its 2009 Zero X dirt bike (look for our review of the 2008 model next week!). But these two companies aren’t the only ones exploring the possibilities of electric-powered motorcycles. In September, Japan’s largest industrial information journal Nikkei Business Daily reported that both Honda and Yamaha have set target dates for launching their own electric-powered motorcycles.

BMW Begins Motorcycle Production in Thailand

Thu, 28 Nov 2013

BMW has opened a new motorcycle assembly line at the company’s factory in Thailand. The facility will initially only produce F800R roadsters from complete knock-down kits for the Thai market, though BMW plans to eventually make the facility a production hub for other Asian markets. The Thai facility is BMW’s first wholly-owned motorcycle assembly plant outside of Germany, though the company does share facilities in Manaus, Brazil with local manufacturer DAFRA Motos.
