This is an excellent 1985 BMW R80. Starts and runs perfect. Smooth idle. Handles fantastically. Transmission shift smoothly through all gears. Looks amazing for the year. Tank has nice shine with beautiful original paint and hand pinstripes. Has a couple tiny dings but overall the bike looks fantastic.
I purchased this from the original owner who took meticulous care of this bike until he stopped riding in 97 and let it sit. I restore vintage BMW's and this one is just too nice to touch so I tuned and am selling as is. We did an overall inspection and tune including head torque, valve adjustment, carburetor sync, timing adjustment, filter replacement, fluid change of engine, transmission, final drive, drive shaft, and forks. Everything was inspected and functions as it should. The previous owner said he replaced the timing chain before parking it. Generally after 60K these machines make some chain clatter. This one sounds nice and tight. Comes with a clear California title in my name in non operational status so no back fees. The only thing I would recommend would be new tires. These will do fine for a while but always nice to upgrade to new. I've decided to let the buyer get tires since everyone has their own favorite type. I can help set the bike up with tires for new buyer for cost. I strongly recommend any local bidders come see it in person. I can also cold start it on the phone or video for you if you wish to hear it run. Happy to assist with shipping for out of town buyers. The German manufacturer has produced five operational prototypes of the BMW C evolution scooter which will be showcased at various events around Europe to prepare for the launch of the serial production version. The BMW C evolution maintains many of the styling cues from the Concept e scooter unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

BMW Produces 500,000th GS Boxer
Wed, 19 Mar 2014BMW‘s most important model reached an important milestone as the 500,000th boxer-engined GS rolled off the company’s production line in Berlin, Germany. The landmark liquid-cooled 2014 R1200GS follows a lineage half a million strong of flat-twin adventure tourers tracing back to the first R80G/S produced in 1980. “As a plant it is a privilege for us to continue building on the successful history of the legendary flat-twin GS,” says Marc Sielemann, head of the Berlin plant which produces the bulk of BMW’s motorcycles since 1969.
