BMW S1000XR description

  • LIKE NEW, ADULT DRIVEN AND GARAGE-KEPT AT ALL TIMES!

  • The motorbike with the dynamic performance of a racer, the upright seat position of an adventure machine and the endurance of a tourer. The BMW S 1000 XR combines the best aspects of each of these worlds to create BMW Motorrad's first adventure sports bike: perfect for anyone who wants performance and comfort in one machine. Design: the perfect fusion. The S 1000 XR is exceptional – and that's exactly how it looks. With its synthesis of sports, touring and adventure, it combines the visual characteristics and qualities of each of these categories, making it one impressive-looking bike. The sporty shape and typical BMW S 1000 RR Splitface emphasize its supersport influence, while its characteristic flyline, "beak" and relatively long spring travel reflect the look and ergonomics of the GS series. Wherever the S 1000 XR rolls up, it's sure to turn heads. Technology: power meets innovation. The powerful, four-cylinder series motor delivers a huge 160 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 83 lb-ft at 9,250 rpm. But it's more than just the sporty thrills that impress with the S 1000 XR – the innovative technology also offers a high level of comfort and safety. The S 1000 XR comes with two selectable driving modes as standard - "Rain" and "Road" – allowing riders to adapt optimally to riding conditions. The standard ASC (Automatic Stability Control) ensures a high level of riding safety based on optimum traction. In short, the S 1000 XR can do everything – from tearing along winding country roads to tours for two with full luggage. Equipment: customized and comprehensive. As an adventure sport bike, the S 1000 XR is highly versatile by its very nature, and can be supplied with a range of optional extras and accessories for perfect adaptation to the rider's preferences. What's more, the "Dynamic" and "Touring" equipment packages offer useful groupings of individual extras that can make the bike even more dynamic and comfortable to suit the rider's preferences and riding style. This bike has ABS, ride modes pro, luggage grid, DTC, dynamic ESA, gear shift assist pro, saddle bag mounts, GPS preperation, heated grips, cruise control, center stand. Here's the perfect BMW motorcycle for all those who want the dynamic performance of a sports motorcycle, the versatility of an enduro and the comfort of a touring bike. The new S1000XR combines the very best of these worlds to create something completely new: the first ever adventure sports bike made by BMW Motorrad; perfect for everyone in search of sporty flair that knows no bounds.

BMW Concept 6 [video]

Mon, 23 Nov 2009

BMW introduced an inline six-cylinder café racer concept at the 2009 EICMA show in Milan, Italy. Inline-six engines have a staple in BMW’s automobiles for decades and the German manufacturer’s motorcycle division took on the challenge of adapting the straight-six to a bike without making it too long or too wide. The result is the BMW Motorrad Concept 6, and an evolution BMW says “will further expand the K-Series in the foreseeable future”.

The BMW-Powered Recumbent Motorcycle

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

As a lover of two wheels, I like to pedal my bicycle to stay in shape when I’m not riding a motorcycle. And in the bicycle world, much like the motorcycle world, there’s a subset of riders who often get snarky looks from the rest of us. Few are more polarizing than those riding recumbent bicycles — you know, the ones where you’re practically laying down while pedaling.

Harald Kitsch and the Pegasus Race Team has won its second championship on the EBR 1190RR, capturing the 2011 European Superbike open race class title. The championship follows Kitsch’s win in the 2010 Sound of Thunder V-Twin Championship on the Erik Buell Racing racebike. While the Sound of Thunder championship was won against other V-Twin machines, the European Superbike class included sportbikes from the Japanese Big Four, BMW, Aprilia and Ducati.
