BSA BSA B441 description

My Vintage British B44, Square Barrel, Shooting Star is for sale in great riding condition. The bike was originally registered in Texas and I am the second owner, (some original paperwork included). It has matching numbers and has been fully restored to some 95% original condition.

This is a very easy classic bike to own and ride regularly. Parts are plentiful and relatively cheap. It is mechanically very simple and there are plenty of shops that can work on this machine if required. I will include as much paperwork as I have, and whatever spares, parts and special tools that I have accumulated over the years.

This bike attracts attention wherever it stops, is a blast to ride, and easy to work on. I will pass on the Whitworth spanners and engine stand.

The only issues are a broken speedo, (not original), and the tank is a steel replacement suitable for modern pump gas with methanol. I have the original fiberglass tank that is nicely finished but the liner has been damaged, possibly from ethanol in modern fuel. The muffler is rather loud and is not original but is correct for the period.

There are too many new and replacement parts to list, but it is fitted with a race cam and the head has been gas flowed, so it goes well once warmed up.

The barrel has just been re-lined to standard and a new forged piston installed. The original Amal carb has been sleeved and works fine. It still runs on the original contact breakers, although an electronic system is readily available to minimize maintenance. It has all new bearings, seals , gaskets, clutch plates, break shoes, tires, cables, sprockets, chain, fork stanchions, valve guides, etc. The wiring is all new with upgraded high temp wire.  All casing screws have been Helicoiled and replaced with St St screws.

If you want to look it up:
Frame is B44B GG 138
Engine is B44B 138 Y

I can forward higher res pictures, or I can take a video if interested.

The price is less than I have spent on it and I'm in no hurry to sell so no low ballers please.

Price does not include shipping, but I can work with your shipper if not local.

2014 LA Calendar Motorcycle Show Concourse d’ Elegance Report

Wed, 06 Aug 2014

The 2014 edition of the LA Calendar Motorcycle Show continued its now 23-year tradition as the premier outdoor streetbike event in America with producer photographer Jim Gianatsis moving the show this year to the beautiful green lawns of the Malibu Golf Course among the twisty canyon roads in the Santa Monica Mountains alongside the Pacific Ocean. Highlighting this year’s exciting activities was the emergence of another new and soon to be renown custom bike builder to the sport for which the Calendar Show is known for cultivating. Taking Best of Show in this year’s Calendar Bike Building Championship was Calin Senciac’s Imagine Vehicles International / ImagineVehicles.com motorsports fabrication shop with an incredible custom billet aluminum designed chassis built by Terry Ward and the shop crew, housing a legendary 1979 Honda CBX 1047cc air-cooled in-line 6-cylinder engine.

The Steve McQueen Desert Racer

Tue, 24 Mar 2009

There are few motorcycle icons within pop culture that have endured as vividly as that of the late, great Steve McQueen. A man who was at one time the highest paid actor in Hollywood, he avoided the limelight in favor of immersing himself within his passion for motorcycles. Never afraid of getting dirty, McQueen was at his happiest flogging a bike around the track with fellow racers or tinkering with the machines himself.

What’s Old Is New Again – Video

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

There’s something distinctly cool about old British motorcycles. From the wire wheels, the minimal bodywork, and the exposed engines which give off a thunderous bark, I’ve always loved looking at old Triumphs, BSAs and the like from the 60s.  I’ve never owned one though. The reason is simple: old British bikes are needy little maintenance machines notorious for the odd oil leak.
