1996 Bimota Mantra with custom paint (It was probably originally yellow and black). This Marconi design was first introduced in 1994 and is one of about 454 ever made. Ducati 900SS motor (dry clutch which makes a rattling sound that alarms people with no clue), recent servicing includes new batteries, starter, solenoid, valve adjust, regulator and then bike has been garaged ever since because I have no one to ride with post-divorce. Runs. Owned by a sedate non-wheelie-ing female. I'm tired of dusting, starting and battery tending this bike, plus if something goes wrong I am hours away from a Ducati shop. EICMA 2012: Bimota BB2 Concept Revealed with BMW S1000RR Engine
Fri, 16 Nov 2012Bimota revealed a new concept sportbike at the 2012 EICMA Show equipped with a BMW S1000RR engine. The Bimota BB2 concept is the first product of a new partnership signed with BMW that would see the German manufacturer supply S1000RR engines for Bimota. The S1000RR engine has class-leading numbers, with the 172.4 hp we measured in our 2012 European Literbike Shootout a 10.4 hp advantage over any literbike we dyno’ed for that shootout or the Japanese Literbike Shootout.
Bimota to Miss Remainder of WSBK Season
Thu, 28 Aug 2014Bimota has failed to meet the World Superbike Championship‘s homologation requirements and will not be allowed to participate in the rest of the 2014 season. Bimota had been under probation where it was allowed to race but would not receive any championship points for its efforts, until it could produce 125 street legal examples of its BB3 superbike. The probationary period has now ended and Bimota has informed series promoter Dorna and the FIM that it has not met the 125-unit minimum required for homologation.
