Ducati Multistrada description
2007 Ducati Multistrada 1100S, The word Multistrada is Italian for many roads as the bike is designed to handle asphalt as well as some unpaved surfaces. Essentially the bike is a hybrid of a supermoto and a sport touring motorcycle. Its upright riding position gives it a stronger appeal for those who like touring but want something lighter than a touring bike. The Multistrada competes in the same niche market as do other multi-purpose and dual-sport motorcycles such as the BMW GS, but even according to the owners manual the Multistrada is not intended for off-road use despite its off-road inspired design.Designed by Pierre Terblanche as an evolution to Terblanche's previous design the Cagiva Gran Canyon. In 2007, the 1,000 cc engine was replaced with a 1,100 cc engine that was claimed to produce an extra 5 ft·lbf (6.8 N·m) of torque. The S model came with black wheels. Ducati also improvied fuel gauge accuracy, improved vibration isolated handlebars were introduced to reduce rider fatigue.A closed loop fuel injection system replaced the open loop FI system on the 1000 cc models and the characteristic dry clutch was replaced with a conventional wet-clutch. Ducati also increased the valve adjust interval from 6,000 miles to 7,500 milesfor a 50% reduction in maintenance costs .The S-Model 1100 Multistrada comes with Ohlins front and rear suspension, carbon-fiber front fender and timing belt covers.

Rossi & Ducati: 2011 vs 2012
Thu, 26 Jul 2012It was meant to be an Italian dream reminiscent of the era when Giacomo Agostini dominated Grand Prix with MV Agusta, but ever since Valentino Rossi joined Ducati he has dwindled into a mid-pack runner. There have been glimmers of hope, a Ducati-best for Rossi in the rain at Le Mans and a good showing in the last round at Mugello. Clearly his best dry weather performance, finishing 11 seconds behind the race winner and within eye-shot of the podium.

Motorcycle.com Weekly Community Round-up!
Mon, 15 Dec 2008Here are a few things going on around the Motorcycle.com Forum Network: Animated Engines plivez, a new member of the Ducati.ms forums (welcome Plivez!) has a website where he animates motorcycle engines in flash. It’s pretty interesting to see the way a Evo and Twin Cam V twin Harley Davidson engine works. He also has up the crazy BMW flat twin R100 motorcycle engine which seems more complicated then an engine should be!
