Ducati Other description

2006 Ducati Sport Classic Ducati's SportsClassics had been a long time coming, but for the most part it's entirely deliberate. The inspiration for these striking retro bikes dates right back to 1972 and the 750 Sport, as designed by the legendary Fabio Taglioni. Back in the day its stunning looks were backed up by its performance. Built only until 1974, and only ever sold in the classic yellow/black livery shared with the Desmo singles, this was the 1st of a noble line of sporting Ducati v-twins, a true landmark machine. Fast forward to the release of the Sport Classic range at the Tokyo Show in November 2003. Designed in the realm of all great classics, ie after hours, in secret, and against the expressed desire of the bosses, Ducati design chief Pierre Terblanche, penned a stunning array of machines. All the bikes of the Sport Classic range, Terblanche insists, are not replicas of famous 1970s Ducatis (as a cursory glance at their styling may suggest). Instead they are full-on, modern sports bikes which take their styling cues from, and pay tribute to, illustrious forebears from the 1970s. The Sport Classics show a sublime finish and obsessive attention to detail. The lush acres of polished alloy, such as the sensuous top yoke, CNC-machined footrest hangers, mouth-watering exhaust and mudguard brackets, and old-fashioned filler cap. And the paint, drawn from the original 1970s color charts. "We made a special effort with this bike to look at every single detail," says Ducati CEO Federico Minoli. Terblanche added: "This is probably the best bike in terms of detail I've been involved with - it matches the best out there." The 2006 Sport 1000 offered here, in standard unmolested form, is testament to the Terblanche design. In fantastic condition throughout, this is 1 of the most desirable Ducatis of recent years: classic yellow/black colour scheme, and from the last year that offered a dry clutch, synonymous with Ducati, and the monoposto, or single seat, with exhaust to the right and shock to the left. In unmolested condition, this 1 mature local Southern California owned bike is offered with original low handle bars and full tail section. The only modification is the Paul Smart Edition exhaust pipes. Fresh from a 12,000mi service, which included: - New Timing Belts - Valves adjusted to Factory Spec - New Air Cleaner - New Chain and Lower Tooth Front Sprocket (14 teeth) - New Engine Breather Hose - Oil Change with High Grade Synthetic Oil - New Ducati Replacement Oil Filter - New Clutch Plates with Original Factory Replacement Parts (August 2012) - Regulator Replaced with Ducati Factory Replacement Part (May 2013) This meticulously maintained bike features: - Ducati Performance Replacement Mirrors - Recent New Battery (replaced mid-April 2013) - Brand New Replacement Ducati Fuel Tank, installed under warranty - Brand new Dunlop Diablo Tires – less than 100 mis - All Original Signals, Tail Lamps The bike comes with: - Original Black Keys (2) - Red Key for Integrated Alarm alarm and New Key Data Set Up - Key Card with Numbers to Order replacement Keys - Original Tool Kit - Original Owners Manual All Warranty Work and Recalls Preformed as required by Ducati North America. Now showing a little more than 11,500mis from new the bike is offered in excellent and unmarked condition throughout, save for a ding in the paint on the tail section, chipped when moving bikes around the garage. The bike has never been in an accident or dropped. It should be noted that the fork caps have some chrome loss. Mechanically, the bike is in as terrific condition as it looks. Everything works perfectly. This is a fantastic example of an immediate classic and inevitably appreciating motorcycle.

848 Challenge: Official race report, Snetterton 300

Mon, 28 May 2012

Mike Edwards put a disappointing start to the season behind him with a win and a second place at Round Three of the Ducati 848 Challenge at the Snetterton BSB weekend. With a gritty ride to victory in Race One and a late charge to third in Race Two, Edwards (Ohlins @ P&H Motorcycles) managed to keep his championship hopes alive following a run of uncharacteristic crashes at the last two rounds.   Edwards said before Race One that he was going for a “win it or bin it” attitude this weekend as he desperately needed to make up the points he missed out on at Assen.

Report: Audi-Ducati Announcement May Come Next Week

Wed, 11 Apr 2012

The Volkswagen Group‘s courtship of Ducati may come to an end next week with Audi formally announcing its purchase of the Italian manufacturer as soon as April 18. That’s the day before the annual shareholders’ meeting for the Volkswagen Group, Audi’s parent company. Reuters reports Audi has completed its assessment of Ducati and found no hiccups that would curtail a buyout.

Panoramic from WDW2012

Never in my life have I seen so many Ducatis, but then that's hardly surprising as I took this photo at World Ducati Week 2012, in Misano, last week. Although I knew it was going to be packed from wall-to-wall with the Bologna-made bikes, I never realised there would be so many Panigales there. Of all of the big-cc sportsbikes, I reckon one in five was a Panigale.
