Harley-Davidson FLH description

1961 HARLEY DAVIDSON PANHEAD FLH  DUO-GLIDE

This is the one everyone has been looking for!

A VERY VERY RARE hard to find collectors dream MOTORCYCLE!

This bike has had two owners since it was new off the Harley Davidson dealership floor. Purchased BRAND NEW IN LOS ANGELES CA IN 1961

The last owner (one of my best friends) purchased it in 1974 from the original old dude that bought it new from Harley Davidson. My buddy was a factory trained certified Harley Davidson Mechanic for over 40 years and was the only person ever to lay a wrench on this Motorcycle! All of his schooling and certificates were earned in the Harley Davidson factory!

He worked for me in my Harley shop in San Diego Ca for over 12 years from 1990 - 2002 so I have known this bike myself for 26 years.

This 1961 Panhead has never seen a mechanic outside my friend, he purchased the bike with 677 miles on it in 1974. He would never allow anyone to touch his bike.

He rode this Panhead from San Diego to Sturgis and back problem free in 2012.  I was told this bike is 100% original drive train, I know he re-painted it about 30 years ago.

This beautiful Motorcycle has never been modified or molested in any way! Original 6V electrical system still all in working order. Original wiring and glass bulb lights.

I think maybe the seat was recoverd about 30 years ago??

Original California 1961 Black / Yellow Lisc plate on the bike.

FACTORY CENTER STAND (FOR CHANGING TIRE) ON BIKE

Owners Maunual

You could ride this bike today.

I have the original inner and outer primary that comes with the bike and some misc extras-

As you can see this bike is a time capsule of American Vintage Motorcycle history with 55 years of beautiful patina. This bike has never had any parts re-chromed or replaced with after market JUNK! Every spot, scuff and blemish has a story, it is a rolling piece of American Motorcycle history.

Bone stock Engine and transmission.

Chrome Chain guard included

Black outer Primary cover and inner primary along with the clutch pack and hub as seen in pictures also included

The asking price of this 1961 HARLEY DAVIDSON PANHEAD FLH is: $20,500.00

The payment will need to be made in full in cash or a cleared and verified bank cashiers check into my Chase bank before the Motorcycle or title is handed over.

I will help with shipping and if you need to have me store this bike before pick up/shipping that is fine.

I will NOT accept any other type of payment. DO NOT buy if you do not have the full payment ready to be deposited into my hand in person or cash direct deposit into my account!

I have a clean clear California Harley Davidson title to hand over upon full payment.

NOTE PLEASE READ-----> Before you purchase PLEASE contact me directly on the phone so that I can do a full walk around with detailed description of the motorcycle. I will take more pictures if needed and offer a inch by inch description on this 55 year old vintage Motorcycle.

I have been in the motorcycle business for over 30 years ( I AM NOT A EXPERT ON VINTAGE BIKES) but I know way more than the average person!

For more info please call/email or text me.

I can also text you back a video of the Panhead running and riding down the road from last weekends little 28 mile ride back and fourth to my local CALIFORNIA car show.

People LOVE this awesome vintage motorcycle history every place I go!

Ohio Man to be Buried on 1967 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

Billie Leo Standley died last weekend from lung cancer, but before he died, the 82-year-old wished for the world to know he was going to ride off to heaven. To accomplish this wish, Standley and his family made arrangements for him to buried in a Plexiglas casket riding his 1967 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide. Warning: A graphic photograph of Standley in his casket can be viewed on the Dayton Daily Times website.

Mon, 05 Nov 2012

While some moto publications are cutting back and constricting, Motorcycle.com is proud to announce the addition of a new editor to our masthead. MO readers, meet Jon Langston, our new Associate Editor. I knew Langston was a cool cat when I first met him at the Harley-Davidson Blackline unveiling in January 2011.
