Harley-Davidson Softail description

This motorcycle was purchased new by a friend.  Now our friend has a soft spot for the finest of things, so when it came to detailing this bike, he didn't stop until it was just right.  I know that he told me he spent just over $28,000 for the bike, parts and labor when all said and done.

When he tired of it a couple years ago, we bought it.  Now it was almost never ridden by him, in fact he only put about 3,500 miles on it.  But after owning it for a while, she hasn't put any miles on it either!!
Odometer reads today:  4438 miles

So, that's the run down of how we got it, and why we are selling it.  Now here is the list of what has been done to it:

First of all it came with security (perimeter type) and smooth wheels.  Those were factory installed.  So if you are trying to figure out retail at the time, this bike came with all options available.
The rear swing arm is chrome.  Not chrome covers, but a whole chrome swing arm
It has a lowering kit to set it deep in the weeds.
The stock exhaust was replace with a true crossover exhaust to give it that old look (softails have both exhausts on one side normally).  This is a kit you can buy.  It is a set of Vance and Hines long shots....they go right to the end of the bike.
The rear pulley is chrome.  The axle covers are chrome.  So the whole back of the bike is detailed.
He put on the leather covered hard bags made for the Deluxe, but mounted them with a quick detach system that is integrated with the quick detach system for the rear seat back rest and luggage rack combination.  If you know what this is, you know it is quite expensive to set it up this way.
Moving forward, the rear passenger pegs were replaced with matching floorboards to the front.
The engine was upgraded with a Screaming Eagle 95" big bore kit, married to the HD race tuner, and a nifty retro looking HD chrome air cleaner.  So it runs really really well.
The old style chrome tool box was installed.  A Chrome stash tube (for insurance cards etc) is also installed.
The Dash was replaced with the LED HD speedometer/tach combo.
The front end was replaced with a true chrome front end.  So top to bottom is all chrome.  Of course every cover including axle covers were done in chrome as well.
The whole handle bar assembly was replaced with a chubby beach bar set up.  Because they are fat bars, all the wiring was done internally.  Additionally the grips were replaced with Iso grips, all the housings were replaced with chrome ones including the brake res.
The throttle and brake cables are all braided chromed steel lines.
And a quick detach winshield with bag is also on the bike.
Additionally, there is a genuine HD heavy indoor cover, a battery tender, and a soft touring bag that slips on the rear seat.
Finally, there is an uninstalled front crash bar that also goes with the bike.

So everyone, its about everything you could want from a Deluxe.  Really is.  If you need a new one, ok.  But you cannot duplicate this bike even remotely close without dumping a pile more than this will cost.
Naturally we want to get everything we can for it.  But we do realize that no matter how nice, it's still 6 years old.  So with that in mind, know that we aren't going to sell it for 8 or 9 grand....but it will be less than half of a new one to duplicate it.  We are motorcycle people, willing to accept depreciation as a fact of life.  However this is truly not your average bear when it comes to softails.  If you want nice, this is it.
