Harley-Davidson Softail description

Built by Motonisto, the nr2 combines early century styling with a more modern powertrain. This super reliable bike uses a 1985 Harley Davidson Evolution engine and a Softail frame (yes, this bike has hidden suspension on the rear section of the frame for smooth gliding over bumpy roads!). Mileage is unknown as speedometer was removed for simplicity, but is estimated at around 40000- 50000. It is very dependable and simple to maintain, with plenty of parts available. Electric starter was also removed along with horn and turn signals. It is about 50 lbs lighter than it was when new. The kickstarter is predictable and once the procedure is learned one can start it in 2-3 kicks. Most of the parts are original Harley for ease of replacement. The body panels are custom  made. The rear fender is hinged for easy access to rear tire. The dashboard was replaced by a glove-box between the gas tanks. Handlebars are made of 0.125 wall Stainless Steel. Seat is early British style replica. Transmission is a newer ratchet top replica using internals by Andrews. A Sportster air box was adapted for crankcase breather. Wiring consists of headlight, taillight/brakelight, ignition and charging, very simple. If you're more into cafe racer then check out my other auction.

Who To Watch In The AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

The Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series is set to kick off this weekend at Daytona International Raceway, and the competition looks set to be as close as ever. In the contest’s three-year history, the combined margin of victory stands at just over two tenths of a second. And last year’s dogfight saw ninth position take the checkered flag less than eight tenths removed from the victory. Each previous contest has developed into a full-blown drafting war, with the class’ evenly matched machinery testing the tactical acumen of its pilots as they negotiate the high banks within inches of one another.

AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike Riders Gearing Up For Road America

Thu, 29 May 2014

The AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class makes its much-anticipated return to Road America this weekend. The four-mile Wisconsin circuit is a particularly exciting place to watch the middleweight bikes because its long straights and braking zones make passing and lead changes commonplace. More than just a test of man and machine, the races often develop into a strategic battle leading up to the all-important last lap and run up the hill to the checkered flag.
