Harley-Davidson Sportster description

Just completed refurbishing this 1974 XLH Sportster and he is ready to ride or show. I bought this motorcycle from the ORIGINAL OWNER who bought it new in South Kansas City Missouri at Worth H-D. It shows only 14,731 miles on the odometer. It did have a broken speedometer cable when I got the bike but it has been replaced with a brand new period correct cable. Looking at the tires that are on/ included with the motorcycle mileage appears to be very close to the 14k. The top end has never been off this motorcycle as evidenced by the virgin head bolts. The tires appear to be the original 40 year old Goodyear tires and if I was going to ride it I would definitely invest in some new rubber. I was unsure what I was going to do with this Sportster so one day I decided instead of buying a tire that it was easier to just put the 16 inch rear wheel with a good Dunlop tire that I had in the shed. I am including the original 18 inch wheel and Goodyear tire with the bike in case you want to put it back on. I had a good buddy repaint: front fender, rear fender, oil tank, chain guard, battery box, and the battery tray. The gas tank WAS NOT REPAINTED because it was in such good shape and has that 40 year old patina, stripes and decals. I have also sealed the inside of the tank with a commercial tank sealer kit.(the expensive one)

Everything works on this bike including the turn signals, well except for the period correct AMF alarm I put on the rear of the bike as I do not have the key. (a good locksmith can make a key for a few bucks)  It sat for many years prior to finding it's way to Texas SO  I replaced the carburetor, clutch shell, starter drive, starter relay, battery, front brake pads, speedometer cable, tachometer cable, seat, battery tray rubber mounts, rubber oil lines, changed the oil, serviced the transmission. This is a great little Sportster that has to find a new home as my one car garage is out of room for motorcycles and I am getting the itch to buy a 2014 FLHX.
Please no tire kickers or test pilots!!!!!!
Motorcycle has a clear Texas title in my name.

2013-2014 Harley-Davidson Breakout Recalled for Faulty Fuel Indicators

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

Harley-Davidson is recalling 2013-2014 Breakout models, including CVO versions, because the fuel level indication system may not be properly reading the correct amounts of fuel. As of this publishing, recalls have been announced by government agencies in Australia and Canada; the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet posted a recall but U.S.-based members of the Harley-DavidsonForums.com report American dealerships have already started receiving recall bulletins. According to a recall announcement by Transport Canada, some Breakout and CVO Breakout models may run out of fuel despite the fuel and range indicators indicating there is still enough fuel in the tank.
