Harley-Davidson Sportster description

Custom 2002 883 Sportster. (well that is what it says on the title) This custom build started with a 2002 883 Sportster as a donor bike for the title. Since the original motor had almost 20K miles, it was sent to the local Harley Davidson shop for a complete top to bottom rebuild. (BTW: I have every receipt for this build) The rebuild incorporated new pistons, rods, crank, bearings, carb, 1200cc upgrade kit and all the Screamin Eagle upgrades including a complete HD chrome kit. The motor is basically new. The bike has about 500 miles on it since the build.

Starting with just the bare frame, a custom swing arm from a wide tire kit for a 240 rear tire was added. This with the addition of 10.5” rear shocks provided a 2” stretch and 2” drop to the rear. The front incorporates stock down tubes with a 6 deg wide glide triple tree achieving a 2” front stretch and 2” drop in the front.

The frame was then professionally cut and chopped to incorporate a custom Built Corbin drop seat.

A custom, Triumph inspired, oil tank was fabricated and the battery was relocated to the underside of the swing arm. The change to an Optimum battery allowed for a smaller overall size which made all the modifications possible. All the electrical wiring and components are hidden out of sight under the seat.

A standard SportBob tank with a 2” extension was used for a lowered sleeker look. The fenders were designed and cut from fender blanks. The seat started as a Corbin Softail seat which was then modified to fit the fender and tank. High quality Dani Leather from Italy was then chosen and sent to Corbin for recovering. Carlini bars with a mono center gauge from Detroit Digital is used with HD controls.

The front 18”wheel was found on EBay as a NOS item. The front wheel design was then custom machined into a rear pulley blank. The 18” rear wheel is a custom polished and chromed solid blank to achieve a “see-through” effect. Both wheels were then wrapped with Metzler rubber.

Wet Dreamz supplied set of PipeDreamz pipes to match the curvature of the bottom of the gas tank.

To achieve a clean look, the bike was sprayed with PPG Luminescence 3 stage paint. Green hidden LED lights illuminate the bike for night ridding.

A lot of time and money was invested I into this custom build project. I have $30K in parts alone into this bike and have a book with every receipt to show for it. I have had several magazine requests to publish the bike but never found the time to follow-up with any of them. Unfortunately, since the completion two years ago, I only have put about 500 miles on it.  I rode it twice last year and haven’t ridden it this year yet. I have a hot rod which I would rather drive on nice days. It turns out that after some soul searching, I’m just not a motorcycle guy. So, I would rather see it go to someone who will enjoy and appreciate it. The only fault with the bike is the back wheel and rear pulley now has some pitting in the chrome from sitting. This can easily be re-chromed if desired.

It is truly a one of a kind. I have won numerous “Best of Show” awards with this. It turns head anywhere you go. Low Reserve. Clear title in hand. Sold as-is.  GREAT DEAL! Easily serviced at your local HD dealer. No bidders with a feedback below 10 will be accepted.
