Huge changes are going to jump out at you. 1st is the CRF450R’s all-new air-fork front suspension. Nearly 2lbs lighter than a coil-spring fork it offers easier adjustment less internal friction and even better handling. Next an all-new twin-spar aluminum frame. You’ll see some big changes in the steering-head area. That’s because the frame is designed specifically to work with the new fork. Check out the CRF450R’s short radical new twin exhaust. The system moves the mufflers in way closer to the bike’s center of mass. They’re super short and compact and work in perfect concert with the 2013 model’s new bodywork to make this the most flickable CRF450R ever! In fact everywhere you look you’re going to see upgrades this year: The engine gets a new piston shape porting and valve timing along with more compression for more power. The radiators are smaller and flow more air. The clutch is totally redesigned with 6 springs for better feel at the lever. Even the footpegs and tires get the Honda touch. Without a doubt the 2013 CRF450R is the most dialed-in bike and still the lightest weight in its class. Do your part and you’re going to be a permanent fixture on the podium with this one.All-new aluminum frame and swingarm. All-new lighter subframe and airbox. All-new air fork—KYB PSF (Pneumatic Spring Fork). All-new rear shock with updated settings. All-new short and compact dual-muffler exhaust system. Bold new styling features an aggressive look. Improved footpeg mount features a patented debris-shielding design. All-new front and rear disc rotor covers. All-new MX51FA 80/100-21 front tire. Increased fuel capacity from 1.50 gallons to 1.66 gallons. Updated Unicam engine. All-new piston with increased compression ratio (from 12.0:1 to 12.5:1). New two-hole oil jet adds extra cooling to the piston’s underside. Cylinder head with revised porting and larger exhaust valves (from 30mm to 31mm). Revised cam timing. All-new six-spring clutch and updated transmission. All-new radiators are mounted lower in the chassis. VEHICLE DETAILS: Condition : New Engine : 450 cc Exterior Color : Red Stock # : 2700564

Japan Needs Your Help

Thu, 17 Mar 2011

By now, we’ve all seen pictures and video of the devastation in Japan following the March 11 earthquake and the ensuing tsunamis. Japan, of course, has contributed much to motorcycling, with the Big Four of Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha, as well as tire manufacturer Bridgestone, helmet companies Arai and Shoei and many other motorcycle industry stalwarts all coming from the Land of the Rising Sun. Jon Bekefy and Greg Hatton, two motorcycle enthusiasts, industry employees  and above all, humanitarians, have set up a fundraising campaign benefiting the Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan.

According to Honda’s head of motorcycle operations, Tatsuhiro Oyama, the lithium-ion battery powered motorcycle will target corporate customers which may include Japan Post and delivery companies, the bike will debut in Japan next year. Oyama, made the announcement on August 1st at a test drive event in Motegi, Japan. Honda started building a battery factory earlier this year with joint-venture partner GS Yuasa, manufacturing batteries for Honda’s electric hybrid cars but Oyama declined to disclose the motorcycle battery supplier.

WSBK 2013: Monza Race Report

Mon, 13 May 2013

Eugene Laverty and Marco Melandri split a pair of victories at Monza but the most biggest news from the World Superbike weekend was a strange series of appeals after Race Two that saw Tom Sykes finish third, relegated to fourth and then reinstated on the final step of the podium. The unusual mix-up occurred after Sykes, sitting in third place, ran off track and into the run off area on Turn 5 on his final lap. The Kawasaki rider returned to the track again in third place where he finished ahead of Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli.
