1970 Honda CT90 Trail
One Owner. Sells On Original Virginia Title Issued When Bike Sold New!

Only 2,127 miles. Purchased new at Honda of Norfolk, VA in May 1971 (Honda of Norfolk sticker still on bike). Last licensed for the street in 1980. Stored for the past 30+ years. 

This CT90 spent a week in my shop being deep cleaned and tuned. Metal parts down to nuts, bolts, screws and washers were carefully cleaned and glass bead blasted. The foot peg/kickstand assembly, the center stand, the battery holder and rear tail light housing were repainted in their original black. The factory School Bus Yellow paint remains original. The only new parts put on the bike are the 6 Volt battery, a new NGK spark plug and I installed an in-line fuel filter on the reserve hose. 

When pulled from storage the fuel tank was (thankfully) full of old fuel. This prevented the tank from rusting so it is remarkably like new inside. The stale fuel was drained from the tank and carb and replaced with fresh, as was the oil. The original spark plug was removed, cleaned and replaced. The engine then started on the second kick. Amazing, but just what you would expect from a Honda. The carburetor has since been dismantled and cleaned, the original spark plug replaced, and the valves adjusted. The engine starts on the first kick, idles perfectly, pulls strong in all gears and does not smoke!. The transmission (both high and low ranges) shifts beautifully. The bike wears its original factory installed tires which are still holding air perfectly. The complete original tool kit is still there with a couple extra tools packed in and spare fuses. The headlight works perfectly (high & low beam), the tail light works perrfectly, the horn works perfectly. This bike was obviously delivered without turn signals. The mounting positions had (deteriorated) rubber plugs installed. Same for the mirrors. It is about as original as it gets and has a nice patina showing that originality and use by the one owner. The original title transfers to the new owner who then becomes only the second titled owner of this CT90. This bike is a great find as an all original, and not just with a title, but with the original title.

Parts for these classic Honda's are inexpensive and readily available. You can reliably ride and enjoy this bike as is and inexpensively install any new parts it might need along the way, or it is a perfect candidate for  restoration to factory showroom condition if so desired, which would consist pretty much entirely of cosmetics. Absolutely no need for engine or transmission work.

2012 Honda CBR1000RR Officially Unveiled

Honda has officially unveiled the 2012 version of the CBR1000RR sportbike. Pictures of the 2012 Honda CBR1000RR actually leaked out last month from Hong Kong but official images and details are now out. The 2012 Honda CBR1000RR receives new Showa Big Piston forks, a new double-tube design rear shock, revised fuel injection settings, updated nose and tail and new 12-spoke cast aluminum wheels.

There is no real off season in Moto GP.  Although we complain about being starved of racing, for those at the sharp end, in little more than two months they have new bikes to assemble, team staff to put in place and sponsors to nail down that will pay for it all.  This time frame is also tight for riders, as it seems more every year go straight under the surgeon’s knife after the last round and spend the short winter recuperating for the season ahead. The 2014 Moto GP championship looks like a cracker as apart from the ten full factory riders we now have at least eight non factory riders with properly competitive machinery.  We also have five Brits on the grid, two with podium potential.  Whatever happens though (providing you have BT Sport) you can just sit back and enjoy watching the incredible Marc Marquez do things that shouldn’t be possible. Speaking of whom, I didn’t believe a Rossi replacement would come this soon.  And when I say replacement, I mean a rider that is the full package.  Although in some ways quite different to Vale, he’s an equally phenomenal talent plus a very likeable character that appeals to the masses and although respectful to his rivals off track, deadly competitive in the heat of battle.  Being young and good looking he’s obviously a dream for sponsors and the sport in general.  Marquez has evolved in his own way but thankfully into a perfect replacement for our sport when the VR steps down.

Schwantz Headlines 2012 Isle of Man TT Parade Lap

Former 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz headlines a star-studded group of racers taking part in a parade lap during the 2012 Isle of Man TT. Schwantz leads the group of six racers, past and present, selected by helmet-maker Arai to take part in the parade lap of the Isle of Man’s Mountain Course. Schwantz has visited the Isle of Man before, but this will mark his first closed lap of the circuit.
