Honda GL500 Silverwing description

1982 Honda SilverWing GL500 Interstate
Rare "Barn Find"

I know this is not the right time to sell a motorcycle but I don't have room for it.  My Loss will be your Gain.

These old Silverwings were only manufactured  for 4 years and are becoming much harder to find.  Especially one that is as complete as this one and with all of the extra chrome.

Was last ridden in 2009  and a new AGM Battery was just installed last month.  It started right up with the help of some fresh gas and a little starting fluid.  Sounds good and solid when running. No unusual noises and very quiet.  Was rode about 40 ft. to load onto trailer for transport.  Will probably need fuel system and carburetors cleaned.  It has a lot of extras bolted on and looks like a much larger motorcycle.  At night time this bike looks like a Christmas tree with all of the extra lights that have been added.  All body panels are in good  to very good condition and the seat looks like new.  The paint has some crazing in the clear coat which is to be expected.  No dents in the gas tank.  I think everything is original.  The windshield is a little cloudy.  Chrome looks to be in very good condition and should clean up nicely.  Tires look good but are probably old.  The passenger seat can be removed and the rear trunk moved forward for a more compact look.  The driver can then benefit from the backrest mounted on the tour trunk.  It has a radio/CB on it that has not been tested, but I think is original factory optioned equipment.  A couple of side marker lights need the lens and bulbs replaced.  This is  a really nice complete older bike that just needs a rider.  I just inherited this motorcycle and have never rode on it and don't know a lot about it, but I will try to answer any questions you may have.

Sold AS IS!

Good Luck!    NO RESERVE!!

First Look: Marotti Honda-engined trike

Wed, 10 Feb 2010

TAKE A HONDA VFR750 engine, a reverse trike chassis and some Batman-style aerodynamic bodywork and this is the result. Polish company Marotti have built this 100bhp prototype model using a 750cc Honda motorcycle engine. The company is now planning to frighten potential customers witless with a new 1.4 litre engine machine that will deliver a claimed power ratio of 397bhp/tonne.Oooh, yer bugger...

Joey Dunlop on a V4 Honda at the '83 TT

Fri, 28 Sep 2012

Onboard video footage doesn't get a lot better than this: Joey Dunlop during practice at the TT in 1983 onboard a factory Honda RS850R. An 859cc ultra-short stroke V4 Honda that Joey mastered around The Island, later winning the TT Formula 1. Although the 'production' race, the RS850R stretched that to the limit.

Honda CBR250R top speed run

Sun, 24 Apr 2011

The Cope Law states that: the capacity of the bike you're riding is inversely proportional to your chances of a crash. Never was it more true than on the launch of Honda's CBR125R and CBR250R where a handful of UK journos were riding elbow to elbow for a couple of hours, with laughter flowing from everyone's lid as we all took turns to back in to roundabouts, burnout through town and wheelie from the lights.. This video shows me chasing Trevor Franklin of MCN fame on a top speed run.
