Honda Other tech info
Honda Other description
The Honda CB550 was a 544 cc (33.2 cu in) four-cylinder standard motorcycle made from 1974 to 1978 and was replaced in 1979 by the Honda CB650. This sale is for a 1974 Honda CB550E. Very difficult to find the E style listed anywhere. All the parts are original as far as I can verify. The bike was stored in a barn for the last 10 years. I removed the bike from storage last year, cleaned the mice nests out of the air cleaner filter, rebuilt all four carburetors, replaced all fluids and the throttle cables and it started right up. VIN# CB550 - 1200593. Engine# CB550 E – 1066266. Manufactured 6/74. Starts on first try with the kick start. Bike does need a complete tune-up but does run fine and all brakes and lights work. You can see and hear a current YouTube Video of this bike by going to the following link: Most of the chrome shows light pitting/Rust. Small dent in front fender and gas tank, and several paint chips in gas tank. Seat has one fairly large rip (See photos). Clutch works great. All brakes work. Inside of tank has very little rust. No tool kit or title included, but I will provide a Notary Bill of Sale if required. Please look carefully at all pictures before asking questions. This bike is sold as is. Payment must be made within 5 days of close of auction. Shipping is the buyers responsibility. Simon and Leo
Thu, 11 Aug 2011If you are a track day regular this year, you may well have bumped into former racer and friendly Kiwi, Simon Crafar. I first met him in Malaysia in 1990 when he was riding for a Yamaha dealer team, sweating his way round circuits like Shah Alam and Johor Bahru but with a long term plan to make it onto the World scene. And he didn’t take long as after riding for Honda in the UK in 1992 he moved to WSB in 1994 and enjoyed success with both the Honda and Kawasaki factory teams.
