For Sale: 1983 Honda VT500FT Ascot project bike and various parts (tanks, fenders, etc.). The VT500 Ascot is a 500cc, V-twin, water cooled, shaft drive motorcycle designed with minimal maintenance in mind. This is the "FT" series (Flat Track styling) which morphed into the 'Shadow' cruiser in 1985. Honda sold these models in the US only in 1983 & 1984 and they've become sought after classics. The Ascot's are torquey, quick, well handling & dependable bikes that are lots of fun to ride. As a middleweight, it's small and nimble enough for urban commuting, and yet large enough for two-up highway rides. It's got a fairly close ration gearbox, plus the addition of an overdrive (sixth) highway gear with an OD indicator on the instruments. American Honda Played A Big Role In Bringing Nicky Hayden Back To Team Red

In late 2013, American Honda was presented with an opportunity to bring Nicky Hayden back to the Honda family, and renew the relationship that started in 1999 when Hayden was just 17. By retaining Hayden’s services to ride the Honda RCV1000R in the MotoGP World Championship series for the DRIVE M7 Aspar Team in the 2014 and 2015 seasons, American Honda is also now a proud sponsor of the DRIVE M7 Aspar Team. His first MotoGP season (2003) saw Hayden finish fifth in the championship on the Repsol Honda RC211V and win Rookie of the Year honors.

Now I know that Mike Hailwood raced a 6-cylinder Honda but that's no excuse for this CBX I spotted at the Bikers Days Spa Classic. The 1047cc, inline 6 cylinder, 24 Valve, DOHC Honda might be a feat of engineering brilliance but it looks like it would be a right handful on track. I've added a picture of an oil tanker to give you an idea of just how long the CBX's wheelbase really is.
