Max Biaggi Announces Retirement

Max Biaggi will retire as a champion, announcing his decision to step away from the sport after winning his second World Superbike Championship by just half a point. The man known as the Corsair and the Roman Emperor announced his retirement this morning at a press conference at the Vallelunga circuit near Rome, Italy. Biaggi ends his 21-year international racing career with six world championships, with four consecutive 250cc Grand Prix titles from 1994 to 1997 to go along with his 2010 and 2012 WSBK titles.

The Japanese oddity to naming teams

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others. Honda And Repsol Celebrate 20 Years Together

If we were to play a game of word association, the mention of “Repsol” would automatically trigger “Honda” from the audience, or at least anyone who pays the slightest bit of attention to Grand Prix racing. That’s because the two companies have achieved much success in this, their 20th year as partners. The longest running partnership between sponsor and manufacturer in the history of the Motorcycle World Championship, Repsol Honda has won 10 World titles, 124 race wins and 338 podiums in 500cc and MotoGP.
