2005 Honda St1300 Sport Touring Bike on 2040-motos

I purchased this bike from West Honda in Rio Rancho, New Mexico in late January of 2008 with 3,182 miles on the odometer. Despite only putting about 1,000 miles per year on the bike, the previous owner traded it in on a Gold Wing. While I have taken several road trips (trade conference in San Antonio, motorcycle rally in Red River, sightseeing in Alabaster Caves), most of my riding has been local and the mileage is now just under 15,000 miles, barely broken in for an ST1300. I have thoroughly enjoyed the bike; it out performs my friends’ Harleys in every respect. However, I have given up touring and recently purchased a cruiser for local riding.

Some of the standard features of the ST1300A are:

·        1,261cc V4 engine with 5-speed transmission and shaft drive

·        125hp - capable of a mid-11 second quarter mile and over 140mph (or so I’ve read)

·        7.7 gallon fuel tank for over 300 mile range (45-55 mpg depending on how you ride)

·        Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with linked front and rear disc brakes

·        Lockable hard saddle bags (each can hold a full sized helmet), plus dual fairing pockets

·        45mm HMAS cartridge fork with 4.6 inches travel and single HMAS gas-charged rear shock with adjustable spring-preload, adjustable damping and 4.8 inches travel

·        Electrically adjustable windshield and headlight height

The bike is in excellent condition and everything works as it should. It has always been garaged and ridden little, if at all, during Amarillo’s mild winters. The bike rides every bit as nicely as it did when I got it five years ago. The only flaws are two scratches on the front fender. Beyond that, the bike is nearly perfect. The bike passed the mandatory Texas state inspection in March and is currently registered.

The bike came to me with a Givi E42 top box installed (big enough for a full face helmet and then some) and a ProGrip Tank protector. I have added the following farkles (accessories):

·        HeliBars Handlebar Risers (raises the bars 1", pulls them back 1”)

·        Spencerized Stock Seat with Gel option (a substantial improvement in comfort)

·        Adjustable Clutch and Brake Levers (Black) from a Gold Wing

·        N.E.P. CC-3 throttle-lock style cruise control

·        G2 Throttle Tamer Tube (for smoother throttle response)

·        Grip Puppies over the stock grips

·        Individually fused auxiliary power plug in the V of the handlebars (SAE two pin connector)

·        Brighter than stock headlight bulbs (65w/55w)

·        Angled Valve Stems (makes it much easier to air the tires)

In the time I’ve owned the bike, I have had the following maintenance performed:

·        Shortly after I got the bike, I found that the rear shock damping adjustment screw was frozen from disuse, so the Honda dealer replaced it under warranty in September 2009 at about 3,500 miles.

·        Normal periodic maintenance was performed by authorized Honda dealers using genuine Honda parts and fluids. Full service records are available to serious bidders.

·        During its routine maintenance in late 2010, I had the dealer replace the fluid and bleed the clutch, front brake and rear brake using Honda hydraulic fluid.

·        The most recent service was performed in mid-March 2013 at 13,993 miles.

·        The ST1300 cooling system has a known factory defect. Over time the thermostat freezes in a partially open position, causing the engine to run cold, reducing ride-ability and fuel economy. The solution is to replace the thermostat, which was done under warranty during the last bike’s latest service. While the bike was under repair, the dealer decided the water pump gasket was leaking and replaced that too, just to be sure (you gotta love Honda dealers).

·        In March 2010, at about 12,000 miles, I replaced the worn original front and rear Bridgestone tires with Michelin Pilot Road 2s, a huge improvement. The Michelins are now less than 20% worn.

·        The original battery was replaced in the middle of last summer.

The bike is available for inspection near Amarillo, Texas with at least a full day’s advance notice (message me through eBay). Test rides are available, but you must have full payment in hand, a current motorcycle driver’s license and proof of motorcycle insurance.

The winning bidder must send the first $500 via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. The bike will be delivered upon completion of payment in cash, certified check or money order (contact me for precise payee information). I have clear Texas title to the bike in my possession (there’s no loan or other lien holder) and will sign it over to the winning bidder at time of delivery and payment. While I prefer that the winning bidder pick up the bike directly from me, I am willing to assist in shipping the bike, at the new owner’s expense. I will NOT participate in crating the bike or in tying it down. Once the buyer’s choice of shipping companies takes possession, I relinquish all responsibility.
