For those of you not familiar with the crazy Derek Specials, i've been doing this for years and a lot of people absolutely love it. All the crazy Derek Specials start at $1 and never have a reserve. I lose on some and win on some. These are always sold as is and I will describe them the best I can. Along with my own evaluation, I also have a mechanic go over the vehicles. Not every scratch and dent can be noted, so please bare with me. I post Motorcycles, ATV's, PWC's, Scooters and snowmobiles. As always, good luck bidding!
This Crazy Derek Special is a 1983 Honda V45. This bike is in great condition cosmetically, but needs some work. I couldn't really find much damage on this bike. There's a small dent in the front fender and that's about it. I have to believe that someone just didn't ride or for quite some time. The tires, brakes, wheel bearings, water pump, exhaust and tank are in good shape. Now the bad part! Well, this is hard to explain, but I can't say too much. I get nothing with a jumperbox or a battery. I'm not getting any lights or power to do anything. It's obviously an electrical issue, but I can't pinpoint the problem. If I have a certified mechanic find the issue, it would get too expensive. The best person for this job is YOU. If you have some experience or know someone that does, it would be perfect. Make it a project and it could be a great bike. My guess is that it will need a carb clean and fresh gas, new plugs, a battery (doesn't have one in it) and some electrical work. The other things that I noticed are that the fork seals are a little leaky and the clutch lever does not work (master is empty). This was one of the most reliable bikes Honda made so i'm pretty sure the motor is fine, but I just don't know. Overall, this would be a really nice bike for a project. Hmmmmm, A starter bike that you and the kid can work on????
