WSBK 2013: Monza Race Report
Mon, 13 May 2013Eugene Laverty and Marco Melandri split a pair of victories at Monza but the most biggest news from the World Superbike weekend was a strange series of appeals after Race Two that saw Tom Sykes finish third, relegated to fourth and then reinstated on the final step of the podium. The unusual mix-up occurred after Sykes, sitting in third place, ran off track and into the run off area on Turn 5 on his final lap. The Kawasaki rider returned to the track again in third place where he finished ahead of Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli.
Pata Honda Replica Onesies for Leon Haslam’s and Jonathan Rea’s New Babies
Fri, 02 Aug 2013World Superbike teammates Leon Haslam and Jonathan Rea and their wives are expecting babies with their respective wives in the next few weeks, so the Pata Honda team presented its riders with a special gift: onesies replicating the team’s racing leathers. Tatia and Jonathan Rea are expecting their first child in September while Olivia and Leon Haslam are expecting their second child any day now. Rea’s baby will have a replica of daddy’s Alpinestars racing suit with all of his sponsors and his butt patch.
BSB 2012; Mystic Mac investigates
Tue, 03 Jan 2012In my opinion, the smartest move in the BSB off season has to be Michael Laverty moving from Swan Yamaha to HM Plant Honda. With a ban on electronics for 2012, and in particular traction control, WFR's Graham Gowland has already proved to Laverty how competitive an EVO spec Fireblade can be - so I’m tipping both these riders to be bang on the money at the Brands Hatch season opener in April. Unlike BMW, Kawasaki and Yamaha, Honda have deliberately developed their road-going Superbike without electronics to give a user friendly feel with good mechanical traction, so it’ll be interesting to see how the opposition copes with their high-tech trickery stripped off.
