Husqvarna Sportsman description

1970 Husqvarna 360 Sportsman raced on the '70 ISDT in Spain by AMA Hall of Fame, the legend John Penton, representing the USA Trophy Team.

Mr. Penton finished all 6 days of race with 0 points lost/penalties.

Tons of research was done in order to restore this bike to its as-raced condition, from the case-protecting crashbars, the inspection paint tagging of the component parts (wheels, shocks, frame, etc., and the lead-seal linking the head to the cylinder), the hand painted numbers on the metal number plates, additional mudflaps, special factory-provided non-production tail light, Bufo bolts, and Trelleborg tires.

This bike was specially built by Husqvarna for the ISDT, so it doesn't look like any other model of that year, even though it's titled as a Sportsman. Only the top teams had access to those bikes.

All parts were sandblasted and painted with correct shade of silver, and black. Rims and gas tank were rechromed. Engine was all gone through and bike is in riding condition, although was never started. Never had oil or gas in it because it's stored indoors (no smell).

This bike should be in a museum, not only for its condition but also for its history.

It comes with:

- Original '70 ISDT helmet
- Original & Official 1970 ISDT Race Route Maps
- Original & Official 1970 ISDT Race Info Booklet
- '70 ISDT book (imported from Spain)
- John Penton's book

Bike comes with clear CA title with license plate.

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days A Rousing Success

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

AMA members and motorcyclists from across the country celebrated the people, machines and sport of motorcycling at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, featuring the riders and champions of Husqvarna, over the July 19-21 weekend. The annual gathering of tens of thousands of motorcycling enthusiasts participated in vintage racing, took in numerous bike shows, met their motorcycling heroes, purchased vintage parts and motorcycles in the massive swap meet, spent time with old friends, and met new ones, all at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. The AMA and the American Motorcycle Heritage Foundation, which oversees the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, extend their appreciation to AMA members, racers, enthusiasts, collectors, restorers, fans, clubs, companies and others who supported the three-day celebration of motorcycling’s history and heroes.
