1973 Norton 850 Commando Roadster. Older restoration. Kick start only! Usually starts on the first or second kick. Recent tires and battery. Runs well and rides fine. The "numbers" do not match so this will never be a museum showpiece or blue chip collectible, just an honest rider. Sharp eyed viewers will note that the front brake rotor is on the left which was not something that happened to Nortons until '74 or was it '75? Anyway, the point is that this is not a purely original machine. The original Amal carbs have been replaced with a single Mikuni, I do not have the originals... I have replaced the leaky fuel petcocks with some Italian made units, forget the name, but they work brilliantly. You should be able to see all the little wear items in the photos supplied. Everything works but the high beam indicator and neutral indicator on top of the headlight. The only issues it has that I am aware of are a parasitic electrical drain that will kill the battery if left unattended. It was this way when I got it and I have never found the time to chase down the gremlin causing this. I pull the main fuse after riding. It is British and it leaks oil. It looks like it has new gaskets but none the less still leaks. I snugged everything down once and it stopped leaking for about a week but went right back to leaking again. It has Boyer electronic ignition too. It is essentially a fair weather toy for me so no doubt someone more knowledgeable than I will find that some things may need adjusting for peak performance. I have a Haynes shop manual for it, it has a cover and a box full of small bits and pieces that may come in handy some day. I don't know that I would recommend riding it across the country, I never tried that so could not offer any guarantee you would make it without incident. Not even sure you could do that when it was new...anyway the point it probably better to ship it. Interested parties are encouraged to inspect and test drive in person or hire someone to inspect for you. Feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to answer.

2010 USA TTXGP: Round One in full
Thu, 27 May 2010WITH BIKES LAPPING at 18 seconds off times posted by the AMA Superbikes, competitors in the inaugural TTXGP North America series still enjoyed a good old scrap at Infineon Raceway, California. An eclectic mix of bikes lined up for the start of the 2010 TTXGP series; a modified 1966 Norton and a 2010 Mavizen TTX02 Superbike were just two of the machines that took part in the race. US rider Shawn Higbee took victory in the event, riding for team Zero Agni.

Mon, 02 Dec 2013The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, visited Britain’s largest motorcycle show, Motorcycle Live, at the National Exhibition Center in Birmingham. The visit saw the Duke astride numerous motorcycle models including UK icons Norton and Triumph as well as a Ducati 1199 Superleggera (one of the few men able to afford the $70,000 rarity). During his visit Prince William enjoyed a display of off-road riding – one of nine opportunities for visitors to ride at Motorcycle Live, eight of which are inside the halls of the NEC. He also met Dean Linehan, exhibitions director of MCI Exhibitions, the company that organizes the annual motorcycle exhibition.
