Norton Commando description

Low Mileage Completely Restored British Beauty. Current original mileage is 6086, may increase slightly as I continue to enjoy this classic ride.

This bike was parked in 1987, sat unused until I purchased it almost 3 years ago. It has been completely rebuilt and assembled to original (Boyer ignition added) by a British motors specialist with 25 years of experience. It has fewer than 100 miles accumulated since completion.

The machine is nearly perfect. It is difficult to describe/remember everything that has been done. The bike starts easily, runs beautifully, sounds awesome, and shifts smoothly. The wheels run true, the brakes work well, handles better than new. Tickle the carbs, kick her a couple times and she roars smoothly then settles to a steady idle.

This is a matching numbers bike that has just undergone a complete mechanical/cosmetic restoration. Every single part from this classic was disassembled. The frame and all other steel components have been tastefully powder coated either black or silver (EX: air box, color is more like aluminum).

The engine was completely rebuilt with a balanced crankshaft, rod and piston assy. New Superblends and crankshaft studs, jugs are bored +.060.

Throughout the entire machine, every bearing, bushing, seal, gasket, o-ring, washer etc. have been replaced and upgraded to the best available.

Head rebuilt with new black diamond valves, guides, seals and springs. Head steady upgraded to 850 type. Timing chain tensioner added.

Oil pump rebuilt. Gear box rebuilt. New sprockets and chain.

Boyer ignition conversion.

Brand new Amal 932 carbs.

New Isolastic conversion set front and rear. New NJB shocks.

All electrical components are either original or NOS Lucas.

Stainless mufflers, rear fender, swing arm rod/caps, chain adjuster, spokes.

Brake caliper and master cylinder rebuilt.

Speedo and tach professionally rebuilt and reset to original mileage.

Beautiful newly chromed pedals.

New Dunlop K81’s (Japan) with Dunlop rear and C.W.C. front rims

Steel fuel tank has been sealed. Tank and steel side covers have been professionally painted in Royal Fireflake Blue. British made decals on tank and covers have been applied and covered with 20+ applications of clear coat. The finish looks incredibly deep. The paint is flawless.

Imperfections are (1) there is a 4” scrape on the lower right header pipe where it meets the muffler. See the picture. (2) The oil tank rear rubber mount is fractured (PN060636, $8.00 at Old Britts). (3) There is not a tool kit. (4) Turn signals light up but don’t flash.

This is a great bike to ride or show. They don't come much better.

Deposit of US $500.00 within 48 hours of auction close. Deposit is non-refundable. Full payment required within 10 days of auction close. Bike will be released for transport upon clearance of final payment.

Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will be happy to assist to insure safe conveyance to the new owner. May be picked up if desired.
