Norton Commando description

Very Nice Original Norton Commando MK3 Interstate.  Clear title can be purchased and shipped world wide.

Original 9k miles.  Original lisc plate from day bike was purchased, original tool kit, mirror, Union key etc..  Clear title can be shipped Global (still in original owners name, title is signed and clear). Cool story on this local bike.  Basically this thing was ridden 1.5 season and then sat for 40 years.  It had a motor issue in 1975 and had a warranty rebuild.  The motor was completed but never put back in the bike.  The owner was in the military lost interest and there it sat rebuilt in the closet for 40 years.  This bike was a friend of the family.  We have had it several years and planned to keep it.  The warranty work was done by well known MN professionals Sterling cycle (Hamel) and Dicks porting.  It sat so long I had it pulled apart to inspect (See Photos). and freshen up.  It was redone with a bit of performance mods in the 70's under warranty.  The only recent work was disassembly, cases and head tumbled, new gaskets and seals.  When the motor was redone in the 70's it received a megacycle cam, radius lifters and the head was ported (not milled).

This is a Minnesota motorcycle sold by Leo's South, it is in very nice original condition.  This is a 1 owner bike (changed hands between family members).  E-start works, even has the Union key for the ignition.  Switch gear and dash board all original.

Highlights:

- It was last registered in 1975.

- MATCHING NUMBERS Frame, Engine, Transmission

- Engine and Head media tumbled

- Original sheet metal

- Original Black cap exhaust

- New petcocks

- misc stainless etc.

- original frame paint etc.

- Engine is zero miles all new

- Original Lisc plate

- Original tool kit

- I have all the items off this bike included (Original champion plug wires, air box plate, head steady spring / assembly etc, see photos)

- Original plastic tool tray under seat

- Original frame tag mostly unfaded

- Original Union key

- Electrics Work (Dash lights, blinkers, horn, brake lights)

- Original side stand and center stand

- Original auto advance and points plate (boyer installed 1 months back)

- Original frame decals

- No broken engine fins or issues as motor just had a several thousand dollar tear down and reasembly

- 2 new tires - Dunlop k81's installed last week.  Prior tires were original made in England tires and dry rotted unsafe

Recent service included, complete Motor Rebuild,  2 new tires, boyer ignition installed, fresh fluids, including fork oil, valves adjusted, head torqued, Carb clean and rebuild, clutch clean and adjust.  It has not been leaking at all since tune, not saying it will not drip here and there but it is not currently.

The Bad:

- It was repainted, it was a shame because the original paint was not bad

- Original airbox is on the bike but has been cut, the back and side cover mount were retained, what a shame, but with the motor upgrades he wanted a K&N filter.

- Black cap mufflers were drilled to allow more air when the airbox was cut.  It is still quiet and I would say it needs free flowing mufflers to enjoy the motor mods.

- The weather turned on me before it got ridden for shake down miles.  It started on the first kick, it has had 3 heat cycles, no leaks, but has not been ridden (it will need some adjustments.

- Bike condition is different for different people you be the judge look at the photos etc., you will find chrome pits and chips and rust and dirt expected with a 40 year old unrestored bike.

This bike is rare, original and has a special MN history being here still, and from a local dealership.  This bike is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time for any reason.  This bike runs and goes down the road as it should, it is 40 years old so there is no warranty expressed or implied.  The bike can be inspected in person for serious buyers in the Minneapolis area.  I will work on my end to meet and prep the bike for shipping but all shipping charges are the buyers responsibility.  The title is clear and this bike can leave the country without any issues.
