Triumph Trophy description
Engine & Frame Number: TR6C PC05354
Produced from 1956 to 1973, the TR6 Trophy was one of the most successful models in the Triumph range, particularly in the US. The highly successful competition variant, the ?C’, popularly known as the "desert sled", sporting the distinctive high pipes, secured the model’s success by winning many competitions throughout the late 1950s and 1960s. It was built at the request of Triumph's sole US distributor at the time, Johnson Motors in southern California, as a way to target the growing number of desert riders. Steve McQueen’s fondness for the model is well documented.
For 1967 the TR6 received some engine changes: compression was raised to 9:1, and Bonneville exhaust valve and camshaft were adopted, resulting in a 5bhp increase. And the TR6C got twin high pipes on the left side, and folding footpegs. The twin leading shoe brake was adopted in 1968.
This great riding, and very original example from November 1968 production, is very presentable indeed. The engine starts easily and has good power. The gearbox shifts easily through a good clutch. Brakes work well, as does suspension with Hagon shocks to the rear. The Harley tail pipes are loud and raspy. Cosmetically, the bike is in very good condition, with usual wear and tear - not in concours condition, but presents well. The European tank is an interesting departure from the norm. Chrome is good, but with blemishes on the headlight bucket, as pictured. The bike is offered with a clean, clear California title.

AMA Sportbike: 2012 Daytona 200 Results
Tue, 20 Mar 2012The 2012 Daytona 200 delivered another fairy-tale finish with underdog privateer Joey Pascarella and the Project 1 Atlanta team fending off a pack of three other racers to win by a slim 0.048 second margin. Competing in just his first Daytona 200, 19-year-old Pascarella from Victorville, Calif., held the lead for 41 out of 57 laps to finish first ahead of a last year’s winner Jason DiSalvo while Cameron Beaubier squeezed by 2010 Daytona Sportbike Champion Martin Cardenas in a photo-finish to take third. For the Project 1 Atlanta team, the win marked a dramatic turnaround from a let down in 2011.

Tue, 10 Aug 2010It's a rainy Tuesday evening and I'm trawling the information super highway for my parallel twin fix, when this little gem pops up. It's a teaser for a film called 'Brittown' featuring vintage Triumph motorcycle racer and mechanic Jeff "Meatball" Tulinius from the Hell On Wheels bike shop in Anaheim, CA. Enjoy
