OFFERING A VINTAGE VINCENT SORRENTO STERLING SILVER AND SMOKEY QUARTZ NECKLACE AND SCREW BACK EARRING SET WITH A JEWELRY BOX THIS LOVELY SET HAS BEEN IN MY MOTHER'S JEWELRY COLLECTION FOR MANY YEARS BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN HER WEARING IT. THE PENDANT PORTION OF THE NECKLACE AND THE EARRINGS FEATURE GEM CUT SMOKEY QUARTZ SETTINGS IN STERLING SILVER MOUNTINGS. THE MAKER'S MARKS ARE HARD TO READ IN MY PICTURES BECAUSE THEY ARE SO SMALL BUT ALL ARE STAMPED "SORRENTO" AND "STERLING". THE PENDANT GEM IS APPROXIMATELY 5/8 INCH X 1/2 INCH. THE FINELY WOVEN SILVER CHAIN TO THE NECKLACE IS 16 INCHES LONG WITH A SECURITY CLASP. THE EARRINGS HAVE SCREW BACKS AND ARE ALSO OF STERLING SILVER CONSTRUCTION. THE SET COMES IN A NEW JEWELRY BOX AS THE ORIGINAL BOX WAS DAMAGED WHILE IN STORAGE. The scantily clad and debatably crazy rider was a man by the name of Roland “Rollie” Free. The bike, often thought by many to be a Vincent Black Shadow, was in fact a Black Lightning – the fastest Vincent ever to see production.
Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction Rakes In $1.8 Million
Mon, 16 Jan 2012A collection of classic motorcycles including some owned by the Du Pont family was auctioned by Bonhams in Las Vegas, with sales reaching $1.8 million, nearly double the pre-auction estimates. The auction included 50 motorcycles and 113 lots of spare parts from the Du Pont family including some from the personal collection of E. Paul du Pont, founder of Du Pont Motors and one-time president of Indian Motorcycles.
Classic Japanese Bikes Highlight Bonhams’ Next Auction
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Bonhams’ annual fall auction, the Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show, at Stafford County Showground is scheduled for October 20, 2013. Included in the auction is the above pictured 1974 Kawasaki H1-RW 500cc triple. Expected to sell for approximately $96,000 to $112,000, the Japanese works Grand Prix racer is one of only two machines built by the factory for the French Kawasaki importer SIDEMM for use in the 500cc World Championship. The bikes were ridden during the 1974 season by the French endurance racing specialist Christian Léon and French-Canadian Formula 750 star Yvon Duhamel.
