From the personal collection of the late cinema and theatre manager, Percy Swanwick, a keen amateur photographer. As far as we know, no copies of these images were ever copied for retail or public distribution. Swanwick was consistently creative and theatrical in his promotions, all of which was reflected in his photographic collection.

This photograph depicts a promotional mobile display, parked on Salop Street, opposite the old cinema. Image measures 8.5" x 6.5" (circa 21.5cm x 16.5cm).

A little very minor rubbing here and there, with a developing mark towards lower centre, adajacent to a circa 1" indent. Very good image nonetheless.

Few motorcycle photographs are as iconic as that of the famous Bonneville “Bathing Suit Picture.” While you have undoubtedly seen this image before, you may not know the story behind it. The scantily clad and debatably crazy rider was a man by the name of Roland “Rollie” Free. The bike, often thought by many to be a Vincent Black Shadow, was in fact a Black Lightning – the fastest Vincent ever to see production.
