Vincent All description

Please browse through our inventory – we have many rare and collectible books for sale!  Please also visit our other eBay seller account - booksforamerica.  We have thousands of more current books listed there: everything from fiction to non-fiction, CDs to DVDs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please check back often - We are listing items as quickly as possible.  We are a nationally recognized charity.  We describe items as best we can - we would rather receive a lower price by pointing out every flaw than incorrectly describe an item just to obtain a higher selling price.

Cheers,

Books for America

CHARITY SALE!!!

100% of the net proceeds support Books For America - we are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Washington, DC. Books for America distributes books and more to organizations in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States serving needy communities and people. Recipients of donated books and other items include hospitals, inner-city schools, assisted living communities for seniors, adult literacy programs, veterans’ hospitals, youth centers, women's shelters, prisons, hospices, and more.

You can pick up your purchase in Washington, DC or Fairfax, VA

This item may be picked up at our used bookstore at 1417 22nd Street, NW in Washington, DC or at our warehouse location in Fairfax, Virginia.  Email/message us to arrange a time - we have to bring the item from our warehouse if you want to pick it up downtown. If you pick up from the store downtown, you can use your credit card or cash, you do not have to pay online. If you pick up from the warehouse location you must still pay online or over the phone.

Donate books, DVDs, CDs, Laptops, Phones, and more!

We obtain books and more through donation drives in communities like yours. We occasionally obtain items that would be of more value to collectors and others than to our recipients, and sometimes simply take a small quantity of donated items and sell them on eBay - proceeds from this sale is what funds our efforts.

Customer Service

Books for America Customer Service is normally available during regular business hours from our Virginia office. We are not normally open on weekends or holidays. While you may send us a customer service request at any time, please do not expect any action to be taken on it outside our normal business hours.

We send shipment confirmations, delivery confirmation numbers, and miscellaneous support communications by conventional e-mail. These notices may NOT appear in your eBay message queue. Be sure to check your registered e-mail address for the most recent information regarding your shipment. We will send you an e-mail if we discover a problem with your order. We will give you two (2) business days to respond to that e-mail with instructions on how you want us to proceed. If we do not receive those instructions within that time, we will request cancellation from eBay for your protection.

Payment

We require payment through PayPal for all eBay orders.

Please note: we use an automated system to collect our orders, so we do NOT see comments inserted into the PayPal payment notice. If you need to send us any comments, please contact us directly via e-mail.

Shipping

We ship ONLY to the address given to us by PayPal at the time of the order. We do not change shipping addresses after the order is submitted. We will delay shipping and offer to cancel any un-shipped order where we are asked to change the delivery address.

We typically ship orders within one (1) business day of receiving the order. This is not the same as delivery. Shipping is the time it takes to put your order in the mail. Delivery is the time it takes for the US Postal Service to carry it from us to you. Within the 48 contiguous United States, we normally expect delivery to be between four (4) and fourteen (14) business days from shipping, but may be as long as twenty-one (21) business days. Contact us if you have any concerns about your order before leaving any feedback, please!

Returns

Your satisfaction is very important to us. Please contact us regarding any problems before leaving negative feedback (see Customer Service, above). Any defects, damages, or material differences with your item, must be reported to us within five (5) business days of receipt of the item or thirty (30) business days from date of shipment.

Orders may be returned for a full refund of the purchase price, regardless of the reason. The returned merchandise must be postmarked within thirty (30) business days of the shipment notification. Non-deliveries must be reported within thirty (30) business days of Shipment Notification. Orders marked DELIVERED by the USPS will be considered delivered. Undeliverable, unclaimed, refused, or insufficient addresses will be refunded upon receipt of the returned item; we will not re-mail returned items.

Behind the “Bathing Suit” Picture

Fri, 09 Jan 2009

Few motorcycle photographs are as iconic as that of the famous Bonneville “Bathing Suit Picture.” While you have undoubtedly seen this image before, you may not know the story behind it. The scantily clad and debatably crazy rider was a man by the name of Roland “Rollie” Free. The bike, often thought by many to be a Vincent Black Shadow, was in fact a Black Lightning – the fastest Vincent ever to see production.

Video: 180bhp N2O injected Vincent

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

The Greek God Epithemeus - the name of this three-wheeled, 180bhp Vincent record breaker - was the brother of Prometheus. Epithemeus (meaning afterthought) was the creator of many dangerous, ill thought-out beasts. Unlike his dilligent brother, Epithemeus was a bit of a f**kwit who threw everything at his powerful new animal creations with little thought of the consequences. A perfect name, then.
