Revenue and Cinderella stamp collections often have stamps that have damage created by the use of the stamps such as cut cancels, tears, punch holes, missing perfs, short perfs or thins and may have some faults.  Some of these stamps may also have been soaked to remove a hinge remnant or remove paper backing or adhesion and will be without gum. Please take this into consideration when bidding.

Pay shipping for one item and all other auctions in the same 3 day period ship for FREE (at cost of item with highest postal charge).

Payment is expected within five days of close of auction. The process of recovering fees after payment is not received will begin automatically (non-paying bidder) after a week.

Stamps/labels on pages or cards will be removed and sent in glassines to save postage costs for buyers. All items are shipped in secure packing with reinforcement. Packaging will protect stamps from moisture.

I have a no-questions-asked policy of return. The buyer is responsible for return shipment costs. I may make a mistake in describing an item and encourage you to contact me if there are any problems. Record Breaking Vincent Black Shadow Is Top Seller At Bonhams Auction

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

A fully restored, ex-works 1952 Vincent Black Shadow was the top selling motorcycle at the Bonhams auction, held at the International Classic Motorcycle Show at the Staffordshire County Showground on Sunday, April 28, selling for £113,500 (US $176,341 after premiums). This Black Shadow was part of the factory’s bid to set a new 24-hour speed record at Montlhéry in France in May 1952. Mechanical troubles prevented that from happening, but the team still came away with eight records, including six hours at over 100 mph.

The upcoming Bonhams Banbury Run Sale is set to be a motorcycle enthusiast’s dream, with 102 lots of iconic bikes available to the highest bidder. Within the sale, an intriguing duo of Brough Superiors will be offered for auction from a family synonymous with motorcycles for generations – Myerscough. The motoring history behind the Myerscough family began in 1893 when Leonard Myerscough opened a business repairing and selling bicycles, followed by motorcycles and automobiles. At the peak of this business, five locations serviced the Liverpool area under the banner L Myerscough & Sons Ltd. Encouraged by his father, the eldest son, Len Jr, took up dirt track racing in the late 1920s, enjoying success as a contracted team rider for both the Belle Vue Aces and Preston teams from 1928 to 1931.

The Greek God Epithemeus - the name of this three-wheeled, 180bhp Vincent record breaker - was the brother of Prometheus. Epithemeus (meaning afterthought) was the creator of many dangerous, ill thought-out beasts. Unlike his dilligent brother, Epithemeus was a bit of a f**kwit who threw everything at his powerful new animal creations with little thought of the consequences. A perfect name, then.
