Up for sale is a thoroughly and methodically refurbished 1972 Yamaha AT2 with 3000 miles. Bike was completely disassembled and each part inspected, cleaned, polished, painted and/or replaced. This is an excellent running bike that shifts through all the gears. Engine starts easily...pull out the choke, and it fires up on first or second kick. Here are some specifics on the rebuild. · Frame and frame components were stripped. Two coats metal etching primer, 2 coats gloss black epoxy paint, 2 coats 2K clearcoat. · Hubs and rims polished. New tubes and Duro tires mounted. · Front and rear fenders, headlight, and fork headlight mounting brackets stripped, primed with 2 coats etching primer, painted with three coats base color and three clear coats. · Oil tank and gas tank stripped, primed, repainted with three coats one-stage color coat and three coats clear coat over new tank new decals. · Headlights, instrument lights and brake lights all working. Engine work included new plugs, exhaust gasket, fresh crankcase oil. Engine cylinder jug painted with black hi-temp engine paint. Side covers painted with hi-temp silver engine paint. · Autolube system working well and calibrated. · Wheel bearings and brake shoes inspected and in good condition. · New seat cover · Original Mikuni carb overhauled. · New gas and oil lines · New fork seals · New grips and foot peg rubber pads · New battery · New rear shock springs · Chrome in excellent condition. · Clean California title in my name and all California DMV fees paid The winning bidder will have to pick up the bike at my home in La Quinta, CA. Yamaha Champions Riding School Returns To NJMP
Fri, 24 Jan 2014Good news for those saddened to hear the Yamaha Champions Riding School would not return to Miller Motorsports Park in 2014: the school is back, now operating from New Jersey Motorsports Park. The change in venue doesn’t come without a slight change in the instructor lineup. Nick Ienatsch and Ken Hill will still lead the way, joined by Mr. Daytona himself, Scott Russell, but a new addition to the star-studded instructor lineup has also been added: none other than Larry Pegram.
Yamaha Acquires Stake in KYB’s Motorcycle Suspension Business
Tue, 05 Feb 2013KYB is separating its motorcycle suspension business from its other operations, and forming a new company with Yamaha. The two companies will form a joint venture to be known as KYB Motorcycle Suspension Co., Ltd., offering motorcycle suspension components to OEMs including Yamaha. Yamaha will acquire a 33.4% stake in KYB Motorcycle Suspension Co.
Stoner explains the tank slapper
Mon, 03 Oct 2011Casey Stoner looked all set to win at Motegi, after translating his pole position into an early race-lead. But coming over the crest on the back straight his bike momentarily lost control in a tank slapper. Regaining composure the championship leader was forced to pump his brakes to get the pads back in place, with the rear-wheel bouncing in the air he ran out of time and space to make the 90 degree right hander and was forced to run into the gravel.
