Yamaha FZ description

1985 Yamaha FZ 750 Pure Sports with 13,254 original miles. Original condition purchased from the original owner. He had it in his garage for the last 13 years when I bought it. I cleaned out the carbs, the fuel tank and replaced the plugs.. I replaced the rear disc pads and the front brake master cylinder with original Yamaha parts. I rebuilt the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder. I replaced the chain with a Volar high performance black o-ring chain, the sprockets look good. It needs the chain cushion block that sits on the swing arm. I put a new battery in it. I replaced the right side mirror with an Emgo OEM as the original got snapped off. The bodywork is almost immaculate with a couple of scratches to be expected. The front tire was replaced at 12,700 miles with a Dunlop K 205 F on 11/13/1993 according to the logbook, looks good, and the rear tire is a Michelin140/70 V-18 that looks original and has some checking on the sidewall and will need to be replaced. I did not paint the cylinders or side plates. The are as they appear, original. The original title reads 7 miles on it and I have not transferred it to my name. It is signed off on and ready to transfer. The seat cover has a tear at the rear at the ending edge of the seat that is covered with a piece of black electrical tape. It does need a new gas cap which is $171.00 for an original which is still available but I have not replaced as yet. Everything works and it runs great. I cranked it up to about 70 on my street but have not really let it hang out due to no tags and that rear tire. I have no doubt it will fly when let loose. It will need new tags and an inspection sticker. The front windscreen has a 3 " vertical crack starting from the top of the screen going down. This bike is in excellent condition for its age and does merit serious consideration for a final restoration. A few items short (gas cap, seat cover that looks good now, rear tire, windscreen if you like, chain damper block) and some more detail work, and this bike will be restored. This is a NO RESERVE auction and you are welcome to come look at it if you are in the area. Please email with any questions or request for more pictures.

Please Note: I couldn't stand it so I put a brand new Michelin Activ 130/80 - 18 rear tire on it today. You can have the old Michelin if you want it, it doesn't look bad on the inside. I'm not raising the price so that's a freebie for you. I've attached 2 more pictures showing part of the clean undercarriage without the tire and then one with the new tire installed. The center stand needs to be taken off and repainted but we'll see. Now if I only had a new gas cap.

Rossi 'training' at his MotoRanch

Mon, 30 Jan 2012

Like Kenny Roberts, Valentino Rossi has got his own ranch where he has built his own private motocross track and dirt oval. The above YouTube video shows Rossi training on the flat-track circuit that makes up his 'MotoRanch' located near his home town of Tavullia. He's shown riding a Yamaha, but that's probably because Ducati don't have themselves a scrambler.

Custom Motorcycle Inspired By…A Stove?

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

The custom motorcycle scene is different in Indonesia. Just take this 1968 Yamaha XS650 for example. Built by Barata Dwiputra of Thrive Motorcycles, his inspiration came from a very unsuspecting source: wood-burning stoves.
