Yamaha Other description

This listing is for a ONE OWNER 1982 Yamaha XJ1100 Maxim. The bike is in excellent condition and is ready to ride. Overall the bike has just over 37k miles. That said, the top end was rebuilt a few thousand miles back and many items have been restored or upgraded as part of its normal maintenance which is detailed below. This is a very well cared for bike.

This Maxim is pretty technologically advanced even by today’s standards. It has features such as front adjustable forks, rear air shocks, a cross linked braking system (applying the rear brake pedal also applies the brake on the front left rotor, while the right hand lever operates the right front brake), electronic built in test which at engine start cycles through a number of tests (battery, battery acid level, charging system, engine, side stand switch, headlight, taillight, signals, and so on) and then monitors the systems continually after engine start. One other Yamaha Maxim feature is a bike lock and rubber sleeve covered chain stored on the bike that can be used to secure your XJ.

The bike is in excellent mechanical condition and needs nothing except a new owner. This XJ rides very well, has plenty of power, handles well, brakes well, and everything works as it should. You will not be disappointed in this motorcycle. You can see more of the bike and hear it run at this link: http://youtu.be/JD793yB1pBY Condition description is as follows:

Mechanical

The bike needs nothing. The center stand is not currently installed, but comes with the bike. It has two brand new Dunlop D404 tires installed as well as a brand new battery. Carbs have been cleaned and both (the bike has a left and right) petcocks have been rebuilt. The rear shocks have been replaced as have two of the turn signal stand offs with associated wiring. The rear differential (final drive) was serviced with Lucas oil, and the engine oil is Royal Purple. A Jardine header/exhaust has been installed which looks and sounds wonderful. Not loud, just deep and solid. The forks were rebuilt a couple of years ago. A brighter upgraded H4 headlight bulb has also been installed. Brakes are solid.

Cosmetics

Overall the cosmetics are great especially when considering the vintage. The fender chrome is nice. Tank paint is very good (see pictures) with a couple of small paint chips and a small scratch that have been filled in. The seat is original and is in excellent condition. The foam grips are worn a bit and could be replaced if desired. If you wanted to make the bike absolutely perfect the right engine side and chassis side covers could be re-nickeled, and the engine generator cover either be replaced or refinished. The fairing headlight cover (a square piece of clear plastic) has a crack around one of the screws and is easily replaced if desired. Lastly there are about a half dozen LCD pixels that remain black on the electronic display but they do not affect functionality and everything works including the fuel gauge. For a 1982 it would be difficult to find an XJ1100 in nicer condition.

Included

The original tool kit, fairing as shown, the original owner’s manualhttp://youtu.be/JD793yB1pBY, and two keys.

Important notes

An immediate $300 deposit via PayPal is required from the winner at auction close. Cash or a bank certified check is acceptable for final payment and must be received within 7 days of auction close. If using a bank certified or cashier’s check, it will have to be verifiable or the check will have to clear before the bike can be picked up. Please do not bid/buy if there is no intent to buy or the finances aren't available to buy it. Local pick up is offered, but I will be happy to work with a transport company if you choose to go that route. It's the buyer's responsibility to hire and coordinate with a transport company. I may also be able to deliver the bike for a mileage based fee within a 50 mile radius.

Thanks for looking at the listing and God Bless!
