Yamaha R5 description

This was my first motorcycle build. I decided I needed a light weight motorcycle to hang on the back of the motorhome...  I bought a professionally rebuilt engine with a frame and several boxes of parts. I didn't know what an RD350 was until I got into it. The bike in the pictures is what happened. It worked as a grocery getter BUT.....  I'm 63 years old and I have a hard time keeping the front wheel on the ground. I like the feel of a powerful 2 stroke but..... my "tearing up the streets" days are over

So, the engine is fresh, maybe 1000 miles. I rebuilt carbs, charging system, ignition, new front tire, chain, brakes, new battery, led blinkers and tail light, halogen head light, whatever I needed to.  I didn't bother installing the oil pump, so it uses pre mix gas. You can have the pump and all my other parts with the bike.

It's a dependable fun bike for a younger man than me, I'm now building a custom BSA that will be too heavy for the motorhome, but a little more tame cruiser......

I could try remembering everything I did while building this thing, but would rather answer specific questions. Ask a question and I will post the answers for all to see. Not looking forward to building a crate and shipping but if you're persuasive enough, I might.....

And it's goodbye from him

Tue, 17 Aug 2010

THIS IS Valentino Rossi's farewell letter to his Fiat Yamaha team following the announcement the flambouyant Italian is to head to Ducati MotoGP in 2011.The hand-written letter, mistakes and all, is written in almost a 'my first romance' kinda way. It's touching, if a little bizarre. Some of the letter reads:“Unfortunately even the most beautiful love stories finish, but they leave a lot of wonderful memories, like when my M1 and I kissed for the first time on the grass at Welkom, when she looked straight in my eyes and told me ‘I love you!'"Somehow, we can't see Casey Stoner gushing quite as freely when he leaves Ducati for Repsol Honda.
