Yamaha SR500 description

1979 Yamaha SR500

This SR was purchased from the original owner and came with several other bikes and parts. This particular bike he had started to make the bike into a cafe motorcycle. Since this one came with a clean original Pennsylvania title I decided to finish what he started. I like to keep this simple as possible and as clean as possible when doing any custom work. I used most of the parts he had sold in the package. The rear frame had already been cut in order to fit the seat/tail section that came with the bike. The fairing also came with the bike and is vintage from the 70's. I gave the parts to the painter and my only direction was a red metallic. This is what he came up with and I was told it started as Toyota red metallic and he added more flake so it is kind of a custom color. I did not do any work the the engine as it started and sounds strong. I was told this one does have a little more compression than stock. The stock carb was junk so I have installed a Mikuni VM34. I removed the stock throttle/controls and installed a Magura throttle. It has cafe style bars. It has the stock speedo and tach which both work. The left hand controls are stock so it still has the turn signal switch, horn button, hi/lo and decompression lever. I did not attach the decomp cable, personal preference. It can be installed no problem. I also have not installed turn signals but the wiring is still in place for front and rear. I decided to with a custom rear set for the pegs from Motolanna, not bad. For the exhaust I used the stock head pipe with a reverse cone muffler. This has minimal baffles and has a nice sound. It still runs with a battery. I have installed an LED rear bullet style running/brake light. The rear shocks are vintage Showa and have dampening adjustments. There are few other things that are new or custom as well. This bike turn out very well in my opinion. I have had this bike on a reliability run and the engine, clutch and gearbox all sound and work as they should.

2014 Yamaha MT-125 Announced for Europe

Wed, 07 May 2014

Yamaha has added a new 125cc model to its suddenly burgeoning MT series of naked streetbikes in the European market. The 2014 Yamaha MT-125 joins the MT-07, the MT-09 and the MT-09 Street Rally, all of which were introduced in the last year. Unfortunately for the moment only the MT-09 has been announced for the U.S.

Yamaha R1 rider lowsides on left-hander

Tue, 23 Mar 2010

THIS GUY'S lucky he doesn't get flicked over the top, after losing the back end of his Yamaha YZF-R1 on a twisty section of mountain road. He looks pretty miffed at the result; we think he got away lightly. It could have been soooo much worse if the rear tyre had gripped and lobbed the rider over the top.

Isle of Man TT 2013: Monster Energy Supersport Race 1 Results

Mon, 03 Jun 2013

Michael Dunlop captured his second victory in the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning the first Supersport race a day after doing the same in the Superbike race. But it was a different Dunlop that led early on the first lap. Older brother William Dunlop on the Milwaukee Yamaha R6 had the fastest time through Glen Helen, between the ninth and tenth milestones of the Isle of Man’s Mountain course.
