Yamaha XS description

This 1979 Yamaha XS650 has been in a storage unit for 23 years.  It is a perfect candidate for a restoration, cafe racer, bobber, or chopper.  It has surface corrosion and scratches but has been preserved very well.  Original paint is in decent condition but there is one dent on the tank and the seat has two tears which are taped as shown in photos.  I purchased this bike from an elderly man who may or may not have been the original owner.  He didn't tell me he was the original owner but the title he signed over was issued to him in 1979 so if he wasn't the original owner then he took possession of it when it was almost new.  It now has 36441 miles.  He has had it parked in his storage unit since 1990.  Before turning the motor over I cleaned the carbs in my ultrasonic cleaner.  Then I cleaned the tank and put two new fuel filters on it.  I changed the oil and installed a new battery.  It fired right up and runs strong.  This bike has an electric start and a kick start and both work.  It is complete and stock.  Not shown in the photos are the mirrors and turn signals which I have in a box.  The only thing I see on this bike that may not be stock is the KYB rear shocks.  The brakes are barely working.  After sitting so long I assume the master cylinder and caliper should be rebuilt and a new brake line would be in order.  So the bike is not ready for the road.  It starts right up and I have ridden it around my neighborhood (as shown in the video below) but without brakes it is not safe.  I have not transferred the title to my name.  The buyer and the date are blank and I also have the application for title transfer signed by seller but again the buyer and date are blank.  I will accept payment through paypal or cash.  A $100 deposit is required within 24 hours of purchase, and full payment is required within three days from purchase.  I can deliver within a 500 mile radius of San Antonio and that will cost you 60 cents a mile paid in advance.  If you purchase the bike and are picking it up, as long as you have fulfilled the payment within three days of purchase I will keep it in my garage until you can make arrangements for pick up.  If you have any questions feel free to contact me at scratcher09 at yahoo dot com.

So that's why he's called RANDY de Puniet

Tue, 20 Jul 2010

RANDY de Puniet may well have just been ejected from his LCR Honda RC212V MotoGP racer during qualifying for Sunday's Sachsenring GP but that ain't gonna stop him from bringing one of the company perks with him to Dr Costa's on-circuit surgery. The Frenchman crashed during qualifying after hitting oil and water spilled on track by Jorge Lorenzo's Fiat Yamaha, after it spewed its guts along almost the entire length of the start finished straight. Following the crash De Puniet was whisked away on a stretcher with a suspected broken foot.

2013 Yamaha YZF-R6 Color and Graphic Options Announced

Thu, 13 Sep 2012

Those of you hoping for an updated Yamaha YZF-R6 will have to wait for at least another year, as Yamaha announced the 599cc sportbike is returning for 2013 unchanged except for new colors and graphics. Yamaha last updated the R6 in 2008, equipping it with the company’s Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake (YCC-T) variable-length intake system. The lack of any significant updates to the 2013 R6 must be disappointing to Yamaha fans, especially as the color updates were announced the same day Kawasaki is expected to reveal a new 636cc ZX-6R.
