However, the main upgrade is the addition of a traction control system. If in the past traction control was a rarity among motorcycles, in the latest years has started to become a mainstream feature. Apart from the traction control system the new YZFR-R1 has also received a fresh nose, a slotted top yoke inspired by the YZR-M1, new muffler end caps, and a longer sear shock and grippier footpegs. The rear spring seat is also slightly softer which improves the ride comfort. Casey Stoner to Retire After 2012 MotoGP Season
Thu, 17 May 2012Two-time MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner has announced he will retire following the end of the 2012 season. Rumors of Stoner’s impending retirement plans have been floating around for weeks with the 26-year-old Repsol Honda racer saying he will continue racing until he no longer enjoyed it. That seems to be the case now as the 2007 and 2011 MotoGP Champion announced he will retire at a press conference ahead of this weekend’s French Grand Prix at Le Mans.
Lorenzo Wants to Race at Assen Despite Breaking Collarbone in Three Places
Fri, 28 Jun 2013Jorge Lorenzo underwent two hours of surgery earlier this morning in Barcelona, Spain, to insert eight screws and a titanium plate to secure his fractured collarbone. By the afternoon, the Yamaha rider was back in the Netherlands to prove he is healthy enough to race in tomorrow’s TT Assen. The reigning MotoGP champion broke his collarbone in three places after high-siding in a wet practice session Thursday.
