I gotta say, this machine impresses me every time I ride her. No matter how long she sits, usually a month or so, she fire's right up and runs clean and crisp. Prime the carbs, pull the choke, 2 kicks. The smoothness of this bike is outstanding. I own several Kawasaki Triples and other 2s's. This machine is a pleasure to ride. Hands down.
I've owned this bike for about a year. Came to me needing "attention". I was told it ran but needed a battery. That's it. Bought a battery and she fired on the 4th or 5th kick. Well, there was a lil' more to it than just a battery. Brakes didn't work, forks were leaking, had the OEM tires on it. Windshield was cracked and she needed a good going over. Getting into the bike, I found the compression to be 142 psi on both cylinders and the calipers frozen. Rebuilt both front and rear calipers. Rear Master Cylinder needed replacing as well. All parts came from Economy Cycle <Thanks John!> except for the rear Master Cylinder, that came from Yamaha.. Forks were removed and resealed with correct oil. Tires came from Bridgestone AT 45's Nice tire! Sticky! Headlight was "white" from age, so I replaced it as well while I was replacing the wind screen. Thinkin' a new chain as well, can't swear to it at this time. need to go over the file. All receipt's available for your viewing. Here's where things get interesting. Bike has chambers, no name showing. However ALL the bolts are "safety wired". I removed the chambers to clean and paint and found that the previous owner had rotated the cans so the name was facing inwards. Turns out, these are Toomey chambers. Cool. Remove the seat and tank to O/H the carbs and found a 2 into 1 air cleaner set up. And the battery box looked funny as well. Very narrow. I get into the carbs and found the jetting was outlandish!! Stock pilots #20 and #430 mains! Now I'm curious, I hit the web and Googled Toomey. Turns out this machine has the FULL Toomey kit in it! Right down to the battery box to accommodate the 2 into 1 air filter set up. Answered a lot of questions. One was "How in the hell can this lil' bike get up and go like my '72 H2?". Think I've put, maybe, 80 miles on it since I went thru it. I live near the beach, here in Hollywood,Fl. and my riding is just to the beach and back. <Parking is the pits down there>. As I stated, this machine is just a pleasure to ride. 2 kicks cold, 1 hot. No if, and's or buts about it. Horn's work, as do the signals. All lights work as they should. I didn't do my ussaule "total" over haul on this, as I was going to send it to my daughter and it was fairly clean to start with. I did do a "once over" on it. When I found out how powerful the power band came on, I decided against it. She's better off on a Honda Shadow. No disappointments here. I've been buying and selling bikes for years. One thing I hate worse is to be lied to. Bought a $8000.00 H2 that was "recently restored" $5000 later and 4 months, I finally got to ride it. Ask any and all questions BEFORE bidding. Don't be shy. Bike needs to be used, I just don't have the time with the two resto's i'm in the middle of. BTW, 1969 Kawasaki H1 nut and bolt resto coming soon! $500 deposit within 24 hours of auction end by PayPal. Balance to be bank transfer. I can store for a reasonable amount of time. The only guarantee is if this bike doesn't put a smile on yer face, I'll take it back. Shipping is your responsibility. I use U-Ship. Usually $3-400 to get a bike here to S. Fl. from the Mid-West. Wed, 04 Jun 2014Michael Dunlop led from start to finish to win the second Supersport TT race, giving him 10 TT victories in his career, tying him with the likes of Giacomo Agostini. Dunlop also joins sidecar racer Robert Fisher, Ian Lougher and Stanley Woods with 10 wins apiece, all tied for seventh overall on the all-time wins list. Riding his MD Racing Honda CBR600RR, Dunlop got off to a strong start, recording a time of 17:55.817 on the opening lap, giving him a 4.6-second advantage over fellow Honda rider Bruce Anstey.
Yamaha Patents Tricity Variant Design
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Yamaha has patented the design for a new variant to its Tricity leaning three-wheeled scooter featuring a broader fairing resembling the TMax. Yamaha has previously announced it would introduce more leaning multi-wheeled vehicles, and this newly patented design may be the next one to go into production. The new design is heavily-based on the original Tricity.
