2014 Yamaha Crosser 150 BlueFlex Announced for Brazil

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

Yamaha revealed a new ethanol-powered dual-sport for the Brazilian market called the XTZ150S Crosser BlueFlex. Designed specifically for Brazil, the Crosser 150 is Yamaha’s latest ethanol fuel model, sharing the same engine as the Fazer 150 BlueFlex.

The engine is a 149cc single-cylinder engine with the second-generation version of Yamaha’s BlueFlex system, allowing it to run on gasoline or ethanol. Yamaha claims the engine offers a peak output of 12.0 hp at 7500 rpm and 9.26 ft-lb. at 6000 rpm when fueled by gasoline, but with ethanol, Yamaha claims a slight improvement to 12.2 hp and 9.33 ft-lb.

Suspension is comprised of a telescopic fork and linked monoshock designed to handle bumpy Brazilian roads. Yamaha will produce two versions, one equipped with 130mm drum brake on the front wheel, the other with a 230mm disc. The rear brake on both versions is a 130mm drum.

The Crosser sports a short beak-style fender under the headlight, a common styling feature on dual-sport and adventure-touring models, but rare for Yamaha. Other highlights include a claimed dry weight of 264.6 pounds, 32.9-inch seat height, adjustable handlebar height, and 3.2-gallon fuel tank.
