BMW Announces Returning 2013 Models – All with ABS Standard

Fri, 06 Jul 2012

BMW announced eight models returning for 2013, all receiving new colors and ABS as standard. Beyond that, the most notable news is what models have not been announced.

The returning 2013 BMW models include the F800R, the G650GS, the R1200R, the S1000RR, the K1300S, the K1300R, the K1600GT and K1600GTL. These eight models join the previously-announced F800GS and F700GS as well as the C600 Sport and C650GT maxi-scooters.

Noticeably absent are BMW’s top-selling R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure and the R1200RT. We already know BMW is developing a liquid-cooled replacement for the R1200GS so its absence from the 2013 lineup announcement is not a surprise. The R1200RT’s absence may mean it too is getting an update, likely using the same liquid-cooled engine. Also not mentioned are the naked version of the S1000RR or the other boxer engined roadster recently spotted by spy photographers.

2013 BMW F800R

The F800R receives two new colors, Sapphire black metallic and the Racing blue metallic/Alpine white version pictured above.

BMW is also offering two kit packages for the F800R. The F800R Dynamic package adds an engine spoiler, LED rear light, LED turn signals and a pillion seat cover. Priced at 295 euros (US$363), the Dynamic package is 138 euros (US$169) cheaper than buying those accessories separately.

The F800R Touring package adds heated grips, a power socket, a luggage rack, a pannier holder, a center stand and an on-board computer. The Touring package is priced at 495 euros (US$609), a savings of 215 euros (US$265) compared to the various parts sold separately.

2013 BMW G650GS

The smallest of the GS models, the single-cylinder G650GS returns for 2013 in a new Sunset yellow color.

2013 BMW R1200R

The lone R-series model to be announced, the 2013 R1200R will be available in Montego blue metallic and Magnesium beige metallic. With a new R1200GS expected to be announced later this year, expect to see the R1200R updated next year with the new engine.

2013 BMW S1000RR

The winner of our 2012 European Literbike Shootout, the BMW S1000R gets a new Granite gray metallic matt color scheme.

2013 BMW K1300S

The 2013 BMW K1300S receives a new Sapphire black metallic/Dark graphite metallic paint job.

2013 BMW K1300R

The 2013 BMW K1300R gets two new colors, a Racing red/Sapphire black metallic version and a Sapphire black metallic/Black satin gloss version. The base model K1300R also gets the sports wheels previously available as an optional add-on.

The K1300R will also be available with a Dynamic package which includes heated grips, an on-board computer, LED turn indicators, a sport windshield, Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA II), and a shift assist. The sports wheels were previously part of the Dynamic package, but since those are now standard, the package sees a drop in price to 890 euros (US$1,095) from 1000 euros (US$1,230).

2013 BMW K1600 GT

The six-cylinder K1600GT gets two new colors for 2013, a Dark graphite metallic and a Montego blue metallic. The 5.7-inch TFT color screen now features optional digital speed display or the “6″ logo. Also new are additional LED headlights, previously only available for the K1600GTL.

2013 BMW K1600GTL

The 2013 BMW K1600GTL gets the same optional screen update as the K1600GT and two new colors, Dark graphite metallic and Damask red metallic.
