Morocco by bike

Wed, 04 May 2011

If you've never been to Morocco, you have missed out, big time. If you were going to go to Morocco on a bike, we'd suggest going along with a living legend like Mick Extance, a five time finisher of the Dakar rally. Maybe the video will whet your appetite.

Conveniently, Mick is organising trips to Morocco later this year, when the weather becomes more bearable. He promises pure off-road riding hedonism with no ramblers to shout at you and no gates to continually open and close. Some of the routes chosen on these eight or ten day holiday packages will use actual routes utilised by previous Dakar rallies. Bikes are fully-fettled Honda CRFs.

Says Mick: 'Morocco’s terrain is one of the most diversified and adventurous in the world. Its geography includes no less than four separate mountain ranges, in addition to lush river valleys, beautiful sandy coasts, and wide expanses of desert. In the southeast, Morocco's mountain ranges yield inexorably to the desolate expanse of the Sahara. The rivers that flow down this side of the High Atlas support long, narrow, and lush river valleys that resemble linear oases.'

Visordown members are being offered a five percent discount on the package prices. Use this clicky thing here to find out more about the itinerary and costs.
