Stafford Bric-a-Brac. Misery and Sadness in excess

Sat, 16 Oct 2010

Just got back from the Stafford show. It was packed. Largely with groups of silver-haired men.

But that’s not what made it a sad event. No, what was really depressing was what people think things are worth nowadays. Or rather, what they think they can get away with.

Bikes that were shit in the seventies and eighties are even shitter now but that doesn’t seem to stop the misty-eyed, cretinous stupidity taking hold of people’s senses.

GT380 Suzuki? Yes, it’s even worse now. KH250s were never worth more than £400 (never mind three grand) primarily for the reason that they never ran on more than two cylinders if there was a R in the month and had a front disc brake that was less powerful than a modern day BMX bike. I could go on (with nearly every bike at the show) but it seems it would fall on deaf ears.

The rotten (in need of restoration – the best get out clause ever?) Honda Express for £700 summed the whole job up. A bunch of chancers desperate to cash in on this new-found market of idiots with more money than common sense.

Still at least you could cheer yourself up with  pair of £20 motorcycle gloves that were guaranteed to explode the moment they even got a sniff of tarmac…

Car boot sale with vastly over-blown, bric-a-brac prices, that’s the Stafford show.

Only been once. Will never go again.

Sorry, there's a lot of pics, please feel free to scroll down and rest assured that you won't be over charged for doing so... it's free!
