Suzuki Hill-Billy was introduced for the 1965 range, a small 2-stroke trail machine with knobby treated tires, high handlebars, sport-type front fender, spring-loaded folding footpegs, quick change dual-drive sprockets, protecting plate under the engine. It is considered as a stable, comfortable and very good looking bike and became a success in the USA.This thrill billy was put together as a project bike and it is missing an exhaust clamp and the gas tank paint needs some love. 1965 Suzuki MD50. Everything works (lights, horn, neutral indicator, etc.). Starts right up and runs/drives great. Carburetor cleaned and adjusted, muffler baffle cleaned, carbon removed from piston and cylinder head. New sealed lead-acid battery. Tank liner installed. New speedometer/odometer and headlamp housing. Otherwise, externally nothing has been restored (original paint, hardware, etc.). There is some discoloration on the tank chrome that appears to be permanent (see photos). Ignition switch works but is not keyed (switch can be turned on/off with anything that fits into key slot). Tue, 29 Jan 2019Suzuki has adopted the SR-VVT (Suzuki Racing Variable Valve Timing) system on the 2017 GSX-R1000. A centrifugal drive system is integrated into the intake gear and adjacent guide plate. It features 12 steel balls and slant grooves to rotate and synchronize the intake valve at a predetermined RPM for increased power at high RPMs.
