Triumph Other description
This is a VINTAGE ESTATE-FIND TRIUMPH FLAT TRACK RACER. It is (I believe) from the late 1960's to early 1970's. You tell me.....
The previous owner had information on the wall of his garage claiming the history as follows: (please refer to pictures provided including photos of the bike being raced and corresponding history) "GORDIE'S AHRMA 1999 NATIONAL CHAMPION BIKE" Gordie did the bottom end work. John Demos did the heads. He flowed the heads, modified the exhaust system. John Demos was one of the best Triumph guys in the world according to Gordie. The engine has 9 and 6 cams? In 1999, the bike won 12 of 14 races. The rider was John Plumb. He had the #1 plate in 250 and 750. ABOUT THE BIKE: Bike has been stored correctly; has good compression; has not been run in 10 years; ran excellent when parked. Street Triple gets a Yoshi boost
Fri, 21 Jan 2011Yoshimura, the purveyors of fine aftermarket exhausts have put the heads together for these fine looking high-level cans for the Triumph Street Triple. According to the PR; the exhausts offer a considerable gain in performance over the stock items (dyno results below), with a significant weight reduction. The stock exhausts top the scales at 7.2kg and with the top-of-the-range carbon slip-ons, the weight is shaved down to 3.5kg.
Watch: 2011 Speed Triple Dyno run
Tue, 05 Apr 2011With the full factory fitted arrow system and map fitted it was time to give the Speed a run on a Dyno to see where the power is at. Over two runs the best results were as follows; Power at the crank : 130bhp & 75 ft.lbs torque Power at the gearbox : 124bhp & 72 ft.lbs torque Power at the wheel : 119bhp & 69 ft.lbs torque The bike has covered 4200 miles and is due its first proper service at 6000 so you would expect to see a reduction in power. Triumph claim on a brand new bike the Speed Triple at best puts out 135bhp and 82 ft.lbs torque at the crank with the cans fitted, effectively mine has lost 5bhp and 7ft.lbs of torque.
