Suzuki GS description

Selling my 1982 Suzuki Gs550/L, Approx. 13,600 Miles.
This bike is a good size for someone just starting out riding, or for commuting around the city. It has the usual rust and dings for a vehicle of it's age, but still looks great rolling down the street! I've had a lot of fun on this bike over the past seven years, but I'm 6'3" and looking for something bigger so that I can stretch my legs out a little when I'm riding!

Since I owned the bike, I have done regular oil changes, replaced the front fork seals and throttle cable, performed the valve adjustment, serviced/cleaned the 4 carburetors. Always stored inside, not out in the weather. Upgraded the mirrors to rectangular, but I still have the original round mirrors too, as well as a box of spare parts I've collected over the years that will be included with the sale. Newer clutch and brake levers. Newer spark plug wire tips. Tires are in great shape. Battery was recently replaced within the last year. There is a chip in the engine case from the previous owner, it has no effect on the operation, just wanted to point that out. Couple of small splits in the seat cover, but not too bad looking. Comes with the saddle bags shown for a little extra storage. I will throw in a couple of repair manuals for the bike if you can use them.

Bike runs great through all 6 gears. Starting in the morning can sometimes take a couple of tries. I just set the fuel petcock on prime to start it, then return it to the normal run position for riding. Once it's been started, it's no problem restarting the rest of the day. All lights and gauges work. I installed a home made upper brake light for added visibility to vehicles following. Bike has electric start, no kick starter on this model.
That's all I can think of at this time, but I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have.
This is being sold locally only, in the 19152 area. No shipping is offered.

R&G announce cheaper engine case cover kits

Tue, 06 Sep 2011

R&G Racing has reacted to the rising cost of official motorcycle parts from manufacturers by creating money saving packages on its Engine Case Covers. As a reaction to the parts price rise, the crash protection leader has created a kit package on its Engine Case Covers (ECC) – offering an overall saving of more than 10% when compared to buying the items individually. The ECCs are designed to protect the engine cases and the inner workings of the motor in the event of a drop by acting as a sturdy ‘second skin’.By simply bolting over the original items, fitting the durable Engine Case Covers doesn’t require draining any engine fluids or replacing gaskets. Extensively developed in the ACU R&G Racing Suzuki GSX-R600 Trophy, as well as being tested and approved by the California Superbike School in the UK and USA, the covers can allow a bike to be ridden after a crash or prevent terminal engine damage from oil leaks or casing punctures.Protection benefits aside, financial savings for riders are evident by looking at official parts prices; to replace only the clutch cover on a Suzuki GSX-R1000K7 would cost £206 including a new gasket, but all three R&G Engine Case Covers for this bike cost only £143.

2013 AIMExpo: Suzuki Unveils GW250

Wed, 16 Oct 2013

Suzuki unveiled a new lightweight naked standard motorcycle at the 2013 American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) – the GW250. Powered by a 248cc liquid cooled in-line twin-cylinder engine, the GW250 would seem an ideal choice for newcomers not interested in sportbikes like the Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 300. Editor-in-Chief Kevin Duke had a chance to ride the newest Suzuki and will be providing a review in the coming days.
