Triumph Bonneville description

1971 T120R project bike.  I bought this bike 3 years ago as a basket case.  I was able to reassemble it and get it to running condition.  There are many things that still need to be done in order to get this bike on the road.  If you are looking to finish a project this might be an option.

The Good:
Cylinders honed and cross hatched
New rings
Valves ground and lapped
New seals where accessible without spitting the case
New gaskets throughout
Boyer electronic ignition
Bandlands electronic control module for turn signals, brake lights and hazards
New Shinko 130 white wall rear tire
New Avon 100 white wall front tire
New all new cables
Custom machined brass kickstand
Custom machined brass kick start pedal
Custom house of kolor dark grey frame
Custom house of kolor silver grey tank and rear fender
Lots of new small parts that would take days to list.

The Bad:
No TITLE.  This bike hasn't been on the road for at least 15 years
I didn't replace the valve guides.  A mistake on my part the engine smokes for about 10 seconds after start
Carbs need to be adjusted.  With carb tickling it starts right away but dies, usually takes about 4 starts to stay running.  The Amal carbs do not have the choke slides installed.
It marks its spot while sitting (only 2-4 drops at most)
The front fender is NOT a Triumph fender.  It looks stupid but I had to have it for a preliminary DOT inspection.  It needs to be replaced.
Small dings in the tank and rear fender that could or should be taken out if you are looking for a show quality finish.
I just broke the handlebar riser on the right side while pushing the bike around the garage for pictures.  They are selling for about $20 on ebay.

Most of the bike has brass detailing (Brass break and clutch levers, exhaust tips, mirrors, exhaust clamps, kick stand, kick pedal, seat springs, oil and gas lines)

I have this bike to the point where it is almost ready to get a title.  Depending on the state you live the process is either very easy or very hard.  Unfortunately for me, Wisconsin is a very hard state.  I did everything necessary to get a title only to find out I need a $5000 surety bond!  I'm giving up on this project.

If you are interested in a Triumph project that will require some work this might be a bike for you.  If you are looking for a show quality classic Triumph in perfect condition ready to ride the second it hits your doorstep for a very cheap price please keep looking.  This is not the bike for you.

I will help in any way I can but shipping is your responsibility.

This is a No Reserve Auction.  So if you bid expect to win, if you win I expect you to pay.  A no-refundable deposit of $500 through pay pall within 48 hours and the balance is due when the bike is picked up.

The Steve McQueen Desert Racer

Tue, 24 Mar 2009

There are few motorcycle icons within pop culture that have endured as vividly as that of the late, great Steve McQueen. A man who was at one time the highest paid actor in Hollywood, he avoided the limelight in favor of immersing himself within his passion for motorcycles. Never afraid of getting dirty, McQueen was at his happiest flogging a bike around the track with fellow racers or tinkering with the machines himself.
